  • MIchigan Exhibition

First off it's an exhibition and I have no idea how it will turn out with all the new pieces.

Second, we're missing three guys. Slime is out indefinitely with an undisclosed lower body injury, Atauri was on crutches the last anyone saw and Celestine is in street clothes tonight according to Chad Brendel this evening.

In addition to all our new guys, we will finally get to see sixth year graduate student Yaxel Lendeborg for Michigan. He would have been a Bearcat coming out of Juco if If not for the termination of John Brannen. I think he was a beneficiary of the Diego Pavia lawsuit against the NCAA and got an extra year.

So we have this exhibition at Michigan and one at Arkansas. What gives? What is our payday ,if any,for these other than a good "practice game"? Do we get paid a fee beyond expenses? Are we hosting any teams for exhibitions here in Cincy? This all seems kind of new to me. I'm sure some of you have more insider information than I.

One thing I’ve noticed, Abaev looks a lot bigger than he did at the McDonald’s game.

The staff intentionally sought out two road exhibitions against strong teams. The NCAA allows just two such events. CWM wanted to put the Bearcats in unfamiliar territory with unfriendly crowds. Crisler Arena, though, is less than 1/2 full. UC have played so well that it's pretty quiet in there.

Buck Harris has been a nightmare for the Wolverines' offense. He has at least three picked dribbles that went the other way for scores. Baba Miller scored 8 quick points, all inside (3 stick backs). Shon Abaev has 11 (3 treys and a double-crossover in front of Yaxel Lendeborg to bury a trey. He also drew a T for taunting after posterizing a defender.

In Bearcats tradition, lots of missed FTs. MI went 8 minutes without a FG. They have at least 11 turnovers.

          Half: UC 52, MI 34

I read the Michigan board. Their two bigs are not playing, so not quite the test.

Really sloppy game, 2nd half a foul on every possession by both teams.

Yaxel Lendeborg is the real deal. The Bearcats had no one who came close to being able to guard him. Lendeborg finished with 30 and appeared to be cramping at the end.

                          Fran Fraschilla:

I spent two days with @GoBearcatsMBB this week so I know their team. Not going to overreact to their 100-98 win at @umichbball without at least one Wolverine starter. But there is hope. They will go 10 deep & are athletic. And no one played more than 26 minutes tonight. This team is well constructed.
