Just finished watching.

Baba Miller does a lot everywhere else on the court, but his three point shot does not look good. He got some minutes at the 3, but I think that will be a short lived experiment as he's not quite quick enough on defense to make it work.

Abaev going to need more lessons on shot selection, one of those guys who sometimes gets the ball and you know he's not passing. He did make some tough ones, but taking a bunch of tough shots is not a recipe for long-term success. Also had a nasty dunk. Looks impressive for a freshman overall.

McKinley looks bigger than I expected and moves very well for his size. He looks like he can take on the backup role at the 4/5, though will probably need some polishing.

Harris's reputation as a defensive menace has not been oversold. He may be hard to keep on the bench. If only he could shoot... But he can drive. Miller, Day Day and Tillery were pretty impactful on defense as well.

Kriisa might be one of those guys who fans either love or hate. He's tough, smart and shoots it well. But he's also not very athletically gifted and looks like my early pick to be the team's worst defender (and it might not be close). Hasn't learned that refs don't call charges anymore (tried to take a charge 3 times, got called for blocking 3 times).

Jordy Rodriguez looks better than expected on defense. He would likely benefit from more set play offense (both coaches agreed not to scout each other for the scrimmage and it didn't seem like we were running many sets). He got himself open a number of times and his teammate with the ball just didn't look his way. Jordy's stroke looks good and if he's as elite as a spot-up shooter as his numbers indicate (44% from 3) I'm sure the coaches will be emphasizing to the others that you have to look his way more and get it to him when he's open.

Tons of fouls on both teams, but can't really complain about most of the calls. Refs were calling it tight and neither teams players adjusted.

I did not watch the game. From what I read in this thread, very concerned that the defense allowed 64 points in a half to a team that was playing at less than full strength. Lots of work to get that potential problem addressed.

I watched the game live last night. The broadcast crew are students. The play-by-play guy wasn't bad, and their presentation was balanced and fair. No stats for most of the game, though. However, whoever the students are who compiled this highlight reel—really poor. Choppy editing, with questionable choices as to what to include. Who shows FT attempts that weren't in crucial moments late in the game? At least they didn't include all 82 of them.

Neither team was at full strength. Michigan's two starting Big men were out as documented by multiple media people who didn't consider the fact we had three 3 guys out

I'm not too concerned about that. Yes we gave up a lot of points, but as mentioned both coaches stated they weren't playing to win.

We played the first 5/6 minutes of the second half with a 3 big men lineup (Miller at the 3 and a combination of Thiam, Dzellat and McKinley at the 4/5) that got absolutely destroyed. Had it been a real game, fans would be rightfully furious at Miller for that lineup, but this game is the type of game to experiment in (and give the experiment a long run) so you don't have to experiment in games that matters.

Despite the stated "not playing to win", Michigan shrank their rotation in the second half, going only 8 deep and keeping their main guys on the court for a large portion. UC didn't shrink the rotation, we went 10 deep throughout the game. That led to large portions of the second half with Yaxel Lendeborg (no. 1 rated transfer in the NCAA) being defended by Dzellat or McKinley, not a favorable matchup for us (though to be fair, even Thiam struggled to defend him, Lendeborg is good).

The refs were calling everything. I wonder if the coaches told the refs to call it tight as a coaching tool. Either way, neither team adjusted to the tight calls so many of Michigan's points came at the FT line. Conference play tends to allow much more physical play.
