  • The home game experience

I don't know how other people feel, but I'm starting to get disenchanted with how the whole home season ticket deal is working out.

It's bad enough the OOC home court schedule is Dayton and 8 garbage buy game type of opponents. The thing now is all the really good OOC games are not included in season ticket packages, and sell at much higher per seat prices. Even when we get to Big 12 play there's only 4 or 5 games that matter (Houston, Ia St, Ok St, BYU, and Baylor). At some point why am I bothering? If two thirds of the season ticket package is junk, I'm not sure it's worth the time, the inflated cost etc, to keep going.

I'm getting to where, other than Dayton, I'm dreading the next two months of crappy home court games.

I go to the game last night, so thrilled to see the Catamounts. I get two beers, I hit the button for the tip and it's over $42 for two beers. For two beers. I'm just starting to get fed up.

As a retiree maybe I have more expendable cash and time but I disagree. I enjoy the experience even with the lower rated teams. I like to see how the players progress and what Wes is doing. Last night for instance: Our team played with much more intensity than all of last season. At least for the first half. The Catamounts were out manned but they played hard. I admit I like having a hot dog and a beer and relaxing. The high powered games are fun but emotionally draining. All in all I think the season ticket package is a relative bargain.

More intensity - could it be that instead of one dribbling and the other 4 watching, they moved. I would like to see more rebounding and running the floor in transition intensity though. I agree with bearcated that 21 a beer is too high. I hope it was full flavored premium.

It's cheaper for a domestic draft but they were pushing these "souvenir" cups at a higher price.

I actually don't mind the Catamounts. I actually think their kids played pretty well. It's just two months of this gets a bit much.

Ahh. Please tell me more. If I get Cincy light or something like that it's a cheaper option? I know they do early bird deals. We usually try to get to the games right before tip off, get our brew-skies and go form there. Appreciate any suggestions. The beer thing just kinda chafes my a$$.

I am a diehard fan & just enjoy going to the games no matter who we play. I wish we had a harder preseason schedule but it's always been like this.
I'm more upset over the beer selection. They did not have(that Icould tell) 12-16 ounce Mic Ultra's available. Only the 25 ounces. I'm hoping I can find
some vendors that sell the smaller cans. JMHO!

Just drop a few beers in your pocket and walk on in.

Get used to it. It's not just a UC thing. None of the B12 teams have great home OOC schedules. All have multiple buy games. Some have multiple neutral site matchups, as does UC (3). Lots of NIL to collect from those. That's the world we live in.

Four schools play no P5 games at home (UC, Houston, TX Tech, UT). Two play two (K-State: Cal, Seton Hall; TCU: MI, Notre Dame). The other ten play one each, two of which are their versions of the Crosstown Shootout (IA St: IA; WV: Pitt). Here are the others:

                  AZ State: Gonzaga
                  AZ: Auburn
                  BYU: WI
                  Baylor: WA
                  CO: Providence
                  KU: UConn
                  OK State: TX A&M
                  UCF: Vandy

Until UC gets back into the national spotlight, the Danny Hurley's of the world aren't coming here.

As far as the price of beer is concerned, I can't help there. Never had any.

Did that back in the day when I was going to UC and all I had $ for was a 6-pack of Top Hat at $1.10.

Good research. Thx. Kinda figured that's what the story would be.

Problem is it's likely to get worse. I read somewhere that the P4 teams who fired their FB coaches so far are on the hook for over $160 million. That's dead money not going to players or anything, and that money has to come from somewhere. UC may face a similar challenge (albeit on a smaller scale) if Wes blows it again this year.

You can only dumb down the schedule and raise prices so much (at least in a town like Cincy). At some point something's got to give. The ADs and the schools need to figure out how to get a handle on this.

Oh. One more thing on the beer front. I asked an X season ticket holder the price of beer at Cintas. He said it's $10 or $11 (depending on if it's an import or not). My son who has O$U FB season tix says a beer there is $12. Haven't been to a Bungles game in years, but I hear it's $14 (?). Don't know about FC.

One thing I've heard is that Cincy Light at the UC games is $11, so the theory is that maybe the other stuff being priced up is to encourage people to buy Cincy Light (which supposedly helps fund NIL). An there is the happy hour deal if you get to the game early.

                        Who knows.

since I don't drink alcohol, what is the price of a coke?

I think the $17 beers are for 24oz and the 16oz beers are around $11

Does UC have anything to do with setting food and drink prices since it is an outside/private concessions company?
