Leeraymond hit the nail on the head with his comparison to these players being employees. These guys (;for the past three / four years play like they are doing their job. Putting in their Obligatory 8 hrs so that they can go home. Wes Miller needs to find players who love to play bball

I'm with Rufus and Leeraymond with my assessment of the game. It's good to get a win and get other guys some playing time but they can win these games with a lot of sloppy play....poor rebounding, week defense, and jacking up 3's instead of running offense and attacking the basket. All of those bad habits and lack of improvement will get them beat against better competition. It's a pattern we see repeated every year under CWM.

I can't disagree with anything Lee or Rufus said. I also have fears when the Cats play a quality team. With that said I enjoyed watching Frenchy and Tyler play. Tyler has good court awareness. I am not going to fall for the scoring success of a couple of the starters as it remains to be seen when they play good defensive players. As I said for a couple of weeks, Tillery is nervous out there and compensates with anger between his bouts of nervousness. Last night his increased pt was good as the Cats are going to need him.

To put a positive spin on this I believe now the Cats have a few guys now (Thiam, Miller, McKinley, Dzellat) that have good size, athleticism, and touch that should be developed and used. That should be their focus on offense as a team rather than jacking up lazy 3's which they don't shoot at a high percentage. At least they should throw it into the post on every offenseive possession as the first option. They also with that size and agility should win the rebound battle and be strong defensively inside. It is so frustrating watching them pay to bring in these guys and ignore their talent.

I am with you on this one Gmann. UC should really develop its low post game. I was watching a pro game some night ago, Detroit and Milwaukee, and it was said that Detroit scores more points in the paint than any team in the NBA. Detroit is on a 13-game winning streak and has one of the best records in the NBA. Detroit also takes its share of threes as well. Nevertheless, the point is that it is very difficult to win games with just jump shots and longer-range shots. Teams that have a strong presence in the paint have an advantage.

Too bad that Jalen Haynes cannot play this season. His game is totally low post. One thing that I have noticed about McKinley and Dzellat is that they are a little shy about taking a shot. From what I have seen of McKinley, he has a lot of potential. The coaches should make him shoot the ball.

I am somewhat confused with how Thiam is being used. Why does Miller allow him to take those goofy three-point shots? He has already taken 10 threes on the season. Those are a waste of offense. If Thiam would just work on his low post offense for now (along with defense), that would give UC a big advantage. He is very hard to stop in the paint because of his length.

This team will have problems winning close games against the Top 6 - 8 in the Big 12. I do not understand why Wes refuses to put an emphasis on FT Shooting?

Nothing has changed except the names on the roster. The problem is Wes Miller. Good recuiter. Average coach. Until he proves me wrong, I've stopped watching for this season. I watched early and saw the EXACT same issues that have been present since he came here. I hope I look like a fool later but until they prove anything, I'm not spending money on ways to watch them.

Reading through the comments after the NJIT game, an observer would think that UC lost the game. We have some VERY astute and knowledgeable basketball people on this blog. We all are seeing the same problems with this program and the product that is on the floor. We are complaining because we all love UC basketball. Before I jump to conclusions, I am going to take a wait-and-see approach. Let's see what happens with the Xavier game which is approaching fast. The results of that game will give us a better indication of where this team is going.

Everybody played in the NJIT game. Miller now has had a chance to see all of his scholarship players in live action real time. Now, he can go about the coaching job of making those adjustments that are needed to win. Let's see if he will make adjustments.

The season is still very young. Baba Miller was out of the line-up last night. There had to be some drop off in performance. Let's give it chance before we call for Miller's head and pay-check.

As of 8:41 am (EST), Monday 11/24/25, UC still has not included the stats from the UL game which was played Friday night. UC usually is great at updating the season stats in a timely manner. This season is something different. Does anyone know why UC is so slow with updating its season stats in men's basketball?
That's interesting that you bring this up. I watch games I'm not attending with my laptop open to the in-game statistics; these were always linked to the game (on the schedule page of GoBearcats dot com). The links were there earlier in the season but for the last couple of games there is nada.

A good question you raise; what is different?
