This site has lost some of our archives over the years due to random issues but I'm pretty sure a lot of us were calling for Mick's head after that loss and challenging his ability to coach offense.

I'm not defending Wes' coaching. Last night was a debacle. I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the locker room these days but I unless my memory is fuzzy the Cronin team that lost to Presbyterian made the Sweet Sixteen.
Yes, I called for Cronin to be fired after the Presbyterian loss. Cronin’s teams could not score which often led to many losses. But, there was no doubt that 1) the teams rebounded well and 2) played excellent defense. Wes’ teams do neither of those well. As sedz wrote and has been asserting since the beginning of CWM’s tenure, they do not run an effective offense. This is the reason I am ready to move on from CWM.

I don't remember the loss to Presbyterian, but I do remember the loss against Nevada in the Tournament which was the last straw for me. I felt I'd seen enough of Mick not being able to coach offense.

I later said a few years later, be careful what you wish for. I would take Mick back in a heartbeat. I totally get where you're coming from.

I have been wondering why any good player would want to come to UC with the current situation. The only thought that comes to mind is that Wes promises them a run and gun style of game and tells them that they can shoot anytime to showcase their skills. Well, we all know that hero ball does not work. We also know that there is no "me in team" unless you remove two letters and rearrange the remaining two letters. Maybe this year, the players will settle down and play team ball with the assist first in mind. The Big 12 is one of the top two conferences in the country and UC needs some adjustments to compete. I lived through the terrible years playing at the coliseum under Tony Yates. I have met Mr, Yates and he was a very nice guy. Kind of like Wes is a nice guy. Nice guys do not necessarily win. Maybe Wes can bring coach Roy Williams in for coaching.
