Williams was a HOF coach, no doubt. But, he always had the blue blood program to which to recruit. Would he have been the same coach at a school without that pedigree? We will never know but one has to wonder if it was his coaching or the fact that he had superior players to coach that brought him to all those wins. I think of all those years he was a Kansas and they choked in the NCAAs so many times.

You may be on to something as he was the HC at only 2 schools, but he won the NC at both. What he does seem to have passed on to CWM is the ability to recruit. Among his recruits were Paul Pierce at Kansas and he was the main recruiter for Michael Jordan at North Carolina.Comment

As others said, Coach Huggins making those comments on social media was being politically correct. I can't see him throwing a current UC Coach under the bus. I have a feeling it would be a totally different story if you were having a one on one with Huggs. I think he would give a different opinion on the current state of UC Basketball.Comment

One more observation. When Huggs is making those positive statements , look at terry's facial reaction. priceless. Here they are talking about how Huggs could not tolerate anything but hard work leading to good basketball, and now he is tolerating wretched BB. Terry and Cory know Huggs better than that. Look at Terry's face.Comment

Figured this was the most appropriate thread- Lance McAllister tonight basically reiterated what I’m seeing on this forum.
CWM post game reaction telltaling his unreadiness for this level of coaching. Said he seemed ready to crack & called for his buyout now, for his own health & the good of the program.
Also mentioned Jerrod Calhoun as a person to keep an eye on.Comment

If Calhoun turns out to be the pick, and if he can coach in the B12 conference, and can recruit, he fits the mold previously discussed. He's won at every stop, at the DII level, but what I did notice is he has ties to UC. On paper he looks attractive, but only time will tell.Comment

While it's increasingly obvious that this is the end of the road here for CWM, I doubt that any decision is announced until after the Bearcats' final game. There's too much chance that players would announce their intentions to transfer (given eligibility remaining). UC still has to put a team on the floor.
As to when John Cunningham will make it official depends upon whether he knows that the current nearly $10M buyout is secured first. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to have to wait for that number to drop to roughly $4.5M on 4/1/26. He probably has feelers out to coaches' agents now, but that must be done very discretely. The earlier he can get someone on board, the better.Comment

Sadly, most of the players already know where they're going as soon as the last game is played. If not, you can be sure that they have their agents working as we speak to assure that they don't miss a paycheck. I'm betting that we have a total roster of players turnover to begin the season next year. The new coach ( if there is one ) will bring some of his players with him if he thinks they are capable of playing at this level.

There are nine (9) games left to play including the one tournament game. I hope that UC basketball does not tank the rest of the season. I hope that, despite everything, UC basketball tries to win every game.
Although the season looks like it is a bust, I hope that UC basketball does not give up on the rest of the season.

There is never an excuse for quitting, but what can the players think after hearing CWM basically cry on the radio. It is time to suck it up and play regardless of CWM. The question I have is if these young men have any heart after being paid and waiting on their next payday.Comment
