I’m signing off here for a while. I get the unhappiness, but the amount of negativity and vitriol is just getting too much for me.

By Roman I assume you mean Catholic. If for one second you think that ALL schools don't have their share of idiots you are kidding yourself. To single out schools based on what you are saying is nothing short of prejudice, and I, for one, am not ok with that.Originally posted by Bearcats1232002 View Post
The roman schools if you will. The only road shootout I was ever at was at the Gardens (showing my age with that fact) and some imbecile was throwing stuff at me because I had a UC sweatshirt on.

i wouldn't bet the house on it - unless one or more big money guys (BMGs - how's that for a new, mumbo jumbo reference stat?) pushes for it, the school could care less what the regular fans think.Originally posted by bearcatlifer View PostOne positive I see is that this team will finish the season under .500 and JC will be forced to get rid of Wes.

The downside of that is JC is the one who will likely name Wes's successor. So there's that. Unless of course we get the booster who twisted JC's arm into hiring CSS, designating our new bball coach. That's worked out well.Originally posted by bearcatlifer View PostOne positive I see is that this team will finish the season under .500 and JC will be forced to get rid of Wes.Last edited by Rufus; Yesterday, 07:48 AM.

The sad thing is that the deep pocketed donor not only got naming rights of his athletic center, he got naming rights on the FB coach. Make no mistake whose athletic center it truly is.Originally posted by Rufus View Post

You are correct about all schools having idiots but Xavier is a supposedly a Christian school and should do better. This is the school that still shares a photograph of when they lost at Butler and destroyed their water fountain. They think it's funny. Their fans would scream F*&% UC (they would shout the same things when Dayton would come to town) and you would see their priest dean standing there who would say nothing. The biggest reason they don't play Dayton anymore, and that is their second biggest rival, is because of the horrible things that Dayton fans were yelling at Chris Mack's wife who was sitting behind the Xavier bench. UD is also a catholic institution.Originally posted by Oldtimer_UC_fan View Post

When Huggins was talking about sex toys being thrown on the court and the nun would pick them up, I believe him. I think Huggins exaggerated the number of sex toys but that is typical behavior of that school. There were no smart phones then so we will never know the whole story. When you are a Christian institution and basically flashing a gangsta symbol "zip em up" that is a problem. I remember when UC had a national TV game back in the days of Huggins and Charles Williams was supposedly flashing some kind of gang signals on the sideline, Xavier hollered about what thugs UC players were. I remember the days when just about all schools were doing the throat slashing symbol. I thought that was inappropriate and thankfully that has stopped.
,
I grew up on the west side of Cincinnati, and I still live here, and I have seen my whole life the bad behavior and hypocrisy of that church and how they will justify anything they do and laugh if off. It's that elitism that comes from believing that you are the one and only true church of Christianity.
And it's not prejudice because I have said nothing about any race, sex or orientation, etc.Last edited by Bearcats1232002; Yesterday, 10:08 AM.

You forgot the tea bag incident that got covered up. In fact, since xavier is a private college, they would not share information about all of problems that their student-athletes got themselves into. It was always covered up and the typical punishment was to be suspended for the first cupcake of the season without explanation. I told a co-worker who is a x fan that I would never go to the Cintas for a game because how stupid their fans are. He agreed. However, UNC Charlotte had the worse fans during the Huggins years. They threw coins at the UC players.Last edited by bearcatbret; Yesterday, 03:13 PM.

Racism (race/ethnicity), Sexism (gender), Ageism (age), Classism (socioeconomic status), Homophobia/Transphobia (sexual orientation/gender identity), Religious Prejudice (religion), Xenophobia (nationality/foreigners), and Ableism (disability), all involving negative attitudes or beliefs about groups one doesn't belong to.
Also, only 44% of Xavier students are Catholic.
I am surprised that other Catholics on this forum are not offended like I am. How do moderators allow this?Last edited by Oldtimer_UC_fan; Yesterday, 02:12 PM.

As is often said, 'follow the money'. As fans, we want a winning team. UC senior administrators, I suspect, want that too but they want as much money for the university as possible even more.Originally posted by leo from jersey View Post

You are probably correct about Xavier's motivation. However, Xavier does not have a football team. All of their emotion and effort are put into basketball. Nevertheless, that is no excuse for UC not understanding how to play this X team. Over the last 25 years or so, the Cross Town game has meant more to Xavier than it does to UC.Originally posted by Bearcats1232002 View PostDid anyone notice how emotional and fired up Carroll was after the game? It was like he just scored the winning touchdown in the super bowl. Why was this rivalry game so important to him? He even said that they are the best school in Cincinnati even though that was only his 10th game at Xavier. He is only going to play there one year. He played at FAU for three years and was born in Florida. He had no connection to this city or Xavier before this year. Why was he so immersed in this rivalry after only 10 games? It's because Xavier circle this game and love beating us. The administration, the fans and the students fire these kids up about this game. We seem just to show up and try not to lose and tell ourselves that this is just another game.

I remember they had a player who sold drugs close to an elementary school after he graduated & another who robbed a store at gunpoint.

I found that somewhat amusing in the face of Pitino saying none of his players knew anything of the rivalry as they hadn’t been there lol. Obviously they had been educated.Originally posted by leeraymond372@gmail.com View Post
