I agree in Kriisa. At this point in his career, he's a liability rather than an asset. I don't think this team looks at film. Watching game film would be rich in pointing out error after error, loss of opportunity, and the stupidity that prevails in every single game, both the coaches and the players.

We don't really have an alternative, or rather the two other options are freshmen (Tillery and Jordi) who will make mistakes too. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather see Tillery and/or Jordi than Kriisa (or Celestine) at this point, but I can see why Wes is going with the veteran option with his career on the line.Originally posted by Rufus View PostI agree in Kriisa. Did you watch the McDAA game? That should have been our first clue.Originally posted by Gypo O'Leary View PostWith this level of guard play, the Big 12 Season is going to be long and painful for Bearcat fans.
After 10 games, there just is no sign of any improvement.
Abaev has no intensity at all. I've never seen a McD All American that seems so indifferent

I thought Tillery played well he just didn’t get enough PT. The team seemed to be more organized than when other PGs were in the game.Originally posted by zykarious View Post

Yeah, and the crazy thing about it is that Abaev is supposed to be an NBA prospect. He is not going to be ready after his first year. My guess is Abaev will transfer out to play for a coach that can teach him how to become an NBA player.Originally posted by London 'Cat View Post
What does Abaev actually provide to the team? He can’t shoot. He never gets to the rim. He can’t defend. He can’t pass. He doesn’t rebound. He is merely occupying space without meaningfully contributing.

Abaev does not have any consistency. Pro prospects typically are very consistent players. Abaev, so far, has only showed for the Xavier game. This comment does not include the mid-majors on the schedule.Originally posted by London 'Cat View Post

I knew that this game would be a tough game for UC's starting guard group. UG's starting guard group outscored UC's guard group 45-21. UG's guards shot 38% while UC's guards shot 19% (5-26). UC's bigs did much better than the guards. UC's bigs went 22 and 16 while UG's bigs went 16 and 14.
This UC team is a mess. It cannot win against teams at the high-major level. Here is the confusing part, UC is a high-major program. Why can't it win against those teams?
Here is a breakdown of how Miller has done against mid-majors, power teams (including Big East teams), and conference teams since he has been the UC head coach. Mid-majors: 39-4; Power 4 (including Big East): 6-9; and Conference Teams: 32-42.
As long as Miller has been a head coach, why is it so difficult for him to figure out ways to win against high-major competition? With UC's offenses, I see a lot of crazy threes taken but I see no plays to get the ball to the rim. There are no back door cuts, players flashing through the middle, no baseline cuts, very little pick-and-roll, and very little posting-up by the bigs.
This team is going to get killed in the BIG XII. Likewise, UC has no chance to beat Clemson. I have seen Clemson play. Clemson is very gritty. It plays tough and physical around the rim. Its guards drive the ball, and they are physical at the rim. Also, Clemson beat Georgia.
One thing for sure, UC is taking a beating right now. That is good. Maybe these @#&% whippings will get them ready to play in the BIG XII. I have not given up hope yet. I am hoping that this UC team will get tired of getting its #@&% whipped and put up a greater level of fight once it gets to the BIG XII.Last edited by leeraymond372@gmail.com; Yesterday, 10:57 PM.

I have given up on this team. As long as Miller is the coach, they won’t ever be able to compete, especially in the BigXII. He is completely clueless about preparing a team to win any game much less an important game. I predict they will not beat a BigXII team with a winning record in the conference.Originally posted by leeraymond372@gmail.com View PostOne thing for sure, UC is taking a beating right now. By the way, the win-loss record stated for Miller in the above posting does not include post-season tournaments.Originally posted by leeraymond372@gmail.com View PostI knew that this game would be a tough game for UC's starting guard group. We've seen the same lazy, ill prepared, unmotivated brand of bball regardless of who we bring in / recruit. Every PF or center he has brought in has either refused to play the typical post up style or he has no clue how to use them. IBut eventually they all gravitate to the perimeter to shoot the three. At the beginning of games we can keep up and generally play good enough to win unless we get in the habit of turning the ball over which we are prone to do, but after the half the same game plan continues on UC's side but the opponent makes their adjustments and it is then that UC reverts to shooting desperation shots and generally just gives up. It's been that way for the past five years, and its going to continue to be that way.
