  • I'm impressed most of you actually watch the whole game. I watched 3 minutes in the first half and turned it off. I don't need the aggravation. I can't handle the ineptitude and actually have no desire to watch them currently. Granted, they were tough to watch many times in the Cronin era offensively, but at least you had hope they would scrap out an ugly 54-50 win. I'm a diehard Bearcat fan, but I have zero hope now and choose not to watch them.

UNCG won the conference tourney both times.

In 2018 they beat #52 NC St but also lost to #334 Presbyterian, #307 Chattanooga, and #187 Asheville. UNCG's offense that year was #191. Free throw rate #336. Free throw conversion #249. 435 midrange shots and only 492 free throws. In the tourney they scored 64 points in 70 possessions against 4 seed Gonzaga. They took 23 midrange jumpers, more than anywhere else on the floor. Only 5 for 10 at the line.

In 2021 they had no quality wins and took multiple losses to sub 100 teams in which they scored under 50 points. UNCG's offense that year was #172. Free throw rate #333. Free throw conversion #256. 517 midrange shots and only 464 free throws. In the tourney they scored 54 points in 66 possessions against 4 seed Florida St. They got outscored at the rim 38-8. They took 20 midrange shots and only 13 free throws. They had more steals, more offensive rebounds, fewer turnovers, and FSU didn't make a single three. They still lost by 10.

These are exactly the type of games we are still seeing.

      • Someone on here called UC fans cretins for booing Wes Miller at the games. How else can fans display their displeasure? There is no official forum.John Cunningham is apparently oblivious. Dr Pinto doesn't care. I think he would like to see the athletic department just go away. Despite JC's recent email blast to "turn the page" It appears to me the whole athletic department is in disarray. I tried to pay for a parking pass for football
this past season and my "account executive" never followed up. 6 weeks later I called him and he says " Oh I was on paternity leave". When I tried to pay for next years football tickets the new account exec has not responded to an email and a voice mail. It's very troubling to think that there might be bigger problems than just bad football and basketball coaches Maybe the whole athletic department is adrift. You won't her that from them though as they are feverishly bailing water.

          That's what the metrics say.

People who ignore the metrics (Cunningham) said Energy! Toughness! Determination! Winningest coach under 40! Roy Williams!

I drank the Kool Aid when Wes was hired. Now I'm gagging on it.

I drank some too. I was hoping he would change his philosophy in a major conference with better players.

thanks, that info. is what I wanted to know. So UC did a horrible job of researching this coaching hire which should not be acceptable.

I still would like to see a calm. competitive, high BB IQ guy running the point., Of course you can't do too much when the opponent's coach takes away your leading scorer for almost the last 19 minutes of the game. Maybe a floor leader could have gotten Thomas or 52 the ball where they could shoot.

I don't know what you can do with 2 guys on 1 player and 3 others standing around leaving open job shots. The shooter may not make them many games, but when he is making them in the game your playing, something has to be done. I am not sure if our players have that BB IQ or notice when they had been told pre game the stats he can't shoot. We all remember when we first started playing -- We may have not mastered moving our feet or anticipating the move, but we started with: GET A HAND IN THEIR FACE. The shooting percentages usually go down when you defend your man. Help defense is important but letting a bunny go is better than letting a 3 pointer go. Some guys do see the floor and will pass in that scenario. Miller complained that on another play a desperation shot went in and basically put the game out of reach. These are the variables that happen during the game. Use your intel to game plan, but things happen on the floor. Some desperation shots can be stopped with total effort and concern that most shots might be made. Never give up or take things for granted.

The play that wrapped it up for me and showed court awareness, but from WV. Their man was driving and beat shootin shon to the correct angle to the basket. One of our guys had to leave their man to give help and the WV flipped the ball to his open buddy for a swish. If anybody has recorded the game, take a look at how our guys inbounded the ball after the swish.

From Bearcat Journal: Then, the usual happened. The Bearcats fell apart on both sides of the ball. Day Day Thomas fouled a 3-point shooter who converted. Jizzle James turned the ball over early in the shot clock with a lead. Cincinnati had multiple bad offensive possessions and went 4:40 without scoring A. garbage-time 3-pointer with two seconds left was their only source of offense in the final 4:46 of the game.

It is a sad day to be a Bearcat fan.
To place blame for losing the game on a lucky shot ( lucky because #1 he hardly ever makes shots,#2 lucky because he turned and shot a prayer as he attempted to save the possession, is a small minded person. Games are rarely lost or won on just one shot. Good coaches will stress ball control, foul control, give exact plans and a backup plan according to what the opponent intends to do. They teach that in the last minutes of a close game things get hectic and the team that can handle the pressure usually prevails. I heard a stat today on WLW ( Bill Cunningham's show) that Millers record in games where the score differential is five points or less and just 4 minutes left in the game is 3 wins - 50 losses. That more than anything speaks volumes that he has no idea how to win close games, and that he can't impress upon his players the importance of not turning the ball over in these crucial instances. As a coach, any coach no matter what sport you play we I'll deliver loud and clear and repeat it ad nauseam that you can't do anything unless you have the ball. You have to want the ball you have to find the willpower to keep the ball.

i'm not saying that anyone on here is lying - far from it. i just question the reliance on stats, when most of us, luckily, have the gift of sight
I ',m only bearing to mind that what Sedz' analysis' reveals synchronizes what we're seeing on the court. Abaev keeps getting pt but yet is consistently the worse player excepting one game. It also shows that very rarely can any one on this roster can play a complete game. B. Miller almost had a triple double the other night but except that he is either rebounding, scoring, or defending but very rarely can he get all phases together. And lastly we usually only have one player that excels in any game. We can't get five players on the court at the same time that all play as a unit. Somewhere sometime and it's usually in the last half someone always goes rogue. They try to take control or try create something because no direction is coming from the bench and that's when chaos begins. As many has pointed out we don't have the one guy who can lead this team.

Very well said. I would take your comments one step further and say that good coaches practice scenarios that emulate the hectic and pressure conditions at the end of close games. I know that practice is not like the actual game, however based on Miller's record in close games, I wonder if he practices end of close game scenarios at all.

                          Good comment Rufus.

                              Not getting a return call from UC doesn't surprise me, as I've noticed this for some time now. But not returning a call for $$$ does surprise me;

My AE tried to sell me more tickets for next FB season, so take from that what you will.

But from the "Add insult to injury" department, I received an envelope today, dated January 6, 2026; inside was an invitation to the Feast of Carols on December 7, 2025. Thanks.

                              • watch wes near the end of close games. He looks very confused, unsure and nervous. The players MUST see this as well. It is a bad situation and needs to be corrected ASAP
