Early on in the season I would think Miller felt some pressure to play Abaev because of NIL. At this point Miller's got to know he's much more likely to get fired because of all the losses than regarding playiing time for any particular player. Maybe Abaev is practicing hard but his play on the court hasn't earned him any time. He is a serious liability when he's in the game and Sedz's +/- scores reflect it.

as does the eye test. I believe CWM sees it. I believe his teammates do too. I wonder what Day Day says to CWM in private. He has been here 3 years and has seen them come and go. Since BB has become a business and a study, it just doesn't seem to be much fun as a competition anymore. All of those hours of training and practicing ---- There is still time to get the thrill of victory

I listened to the radio broadcast for the first half. Terry is not holding back with criticism. It was tactful but feel like he needs to get it off his chest. There is no bigger ambassador than Terry for the modern-day program. Wes should lean into that. Maybe its too late.

CWM was saying words without understanding when he spoke of UC tradition at his opening press conference. Teryy Nelson lived UC tradition.

Or Terry Nelson made Bearcat tradition.

Steve logan made Bearcat tradition too. I first read a small blurb stating Huggins gets his point guard. Then we read of a chubby guard and then an all american.

Looks like a fight with Utah and Kansas St. to stay out of last place in the conference the rest of the way. So maybe they can win the next 2 games vs those opponents. I don't know what else to look for, as far as improvement goes with Miller and his coaching, other than wins at this point. At some point you have to start winning more conference games.

Or ONE conference game . . . Still winless in conference play.

even if you're the tallest midget (ie, a distant 14th out of 16), I don't think that any of us want to see that. We're used to teams that win, and this Wes Miller **** show needs to stop. I don't have mumbo jumbo stats on it, but I'm pretty sure that none of us are satisfied with the last few years. If Wes can turn it around, great. I have nothing against him personally. But, he either needs to start winning, at a really good rate, or he needs to go. Bearcat nation has run out of patience.

what's everyone thinking, as to the over / under on wins this season? 12? more? less? in any event, i don't think that any one is looking for a strong finish this year.

There's a pretty good story involving Logan and how he ended up here. I may get some details wrong but the gist of it is as follows....

We weren't recruiting really Logan at all. One of our assistants (Cronin or Dan Peters?) was scouting a player from Cleveland (can't remember if it was Logan's teammate or an opponent) and was impressed with him and told Huggins about him. Story goes Huggins wasn't really interested but when we then lost out on a different PG recruit we "settled" for Steve.

This season is lost. But that's not all bad. We can all take a deep breath and relax. From now until the end of the season we don't expect to win. Through the Ed Badger years I attended or watched all the games and it just didn't seem that stressful. I'll still go to all the home games and enjoy them as an outing. A win will just be a little extra. Sort of like a Reds game.
