Our upcoming trip up I-10 from Tucson to Tempe presents our best remaining opportunity to secure our first win away from Fifth Third Arena this season. The Sun Devils (10-9, 1-5 Big 12, NET #93, KenPom #92) have lost 7 of their last 8 games and are coming off a major letdown at home, as they lost to WVU 75-63 on Wednesday evening.

The popular sentiment amongst the fanbase is that Bobby Hurley has lost the locker room, so this could be an ideal time to play ASU as they approach rock bottom. On the contrary, they could look at UC's visit as a prime opportunity to turn their season around and play inspired against a team that is expected to be "offensively challenged".

Needless to say, the Sun Devils have not adjusted well to this new era of college basketball as they are looking at their 5th losing season over the past 6. They had to replace their top 8 players over this past offseason and the odds of Hurley being around to usher in a new group seems less and less likely by the day.

This is a game that UC needs to win to stay somewhat relevant. Both teams come into this game with dismal conference stats. ASU scores 81 points a game but gives up 95 points a game. It shoots 43.7% but its opponents are shooting 51%. It shoots 28.8% from three but its opponents are shooting 42% from three. It is also being outrebounded by about 2 a game. UC scores 66 points a game but gives up 69 points a game. UC only shoots 40% and its opponents are shooting 45.6%. UC is shooting a lowly 26% from three where its opponents are shooting 37.9%. UC, likewise, is being outrebounded by 3 a game.

The main point here is this: ASU is a lousy defensive team, and UC is a lousy offensive team.

To make matters worse for UC is the fact that it has lost 7 straight conference road games. UC's last conference road win came against UCF on 2/5/2025, almost a year ago. This game is going to boil down to whether UC's defense is strong enough to contain ASU's offense. Whichever team can impose its will on the other team concerning what it does best will probably win this game.

Hopefully, UC's defense is much better than ASU's offense.

I like our chances of the defense holding down "states" offense, if the good guys stay tenacious for the full 40. But our offense is a hot hodge podge styles and egos going against defenses so in my opinion it's a toss up. However if it's close at the 4 minute mark, then the odds say give it to state.

Cinci D should keep this close, but remember Az St. has a good point guard, out of NYC. good 3pt shooter. over 80% from foul line. if the game is close, he could be the dif.

I’m listening on the radio tonight. I’m just sick of the TV runaround we have to put up with. Or I’ll try to….

We're getting to the rim with our same old PnR and iso offense, which says a lot about how bad Arizona St's defense is. Gotta stop turning the ball over though.

I can't believe collectively as a group, how stupid this team is with the basketball. They manage to find new ways to lose possessions almost every game.

Just go with the young guys and let them grow. Tillery, Abaev, McKinley. What difference does it make?

They were already bad and now they are just going through the motions. The Wes Miller can't end soon enough. They've quit on him. No effort tonight.

Be glad your not watching, LTF. CWM has peaked at his expertise of coaching D I bball and it's not enough to compete at the power conference level. He just can't seem to get more than two players at any given time to play a solid bball game. Too too often, two or more players decide not to show up, disappear, or just continue to make idiotic mistakes. It just too exhausting to watch and on top of that you have to continually go channel surging to find where it's televised.
