The only game I can recall in which it appeared that the Cats quit was versus Georgia. They didn't quit against Clemson, despite falling behind 14-0. There were games in which the endings didn't go well, such as UofL and Arizona. But those teams were clearly better and just outmanned the Cats.

UC played very poorly against EMU, but that was just a lousy performance (with neither Baba Miller nor Jalen Celestine available), not quitting. They didn't quit at Cintas. They just couldn't figure out how to guard Tre Carroll.

The team everyone is seeing now isn't the same as it was. Celestine, who appears to be over his back issues, is in the lineup and contributing, in place of Shon Abaev. The playing time (partly because of injuries and illnesses) has been cut dramatically for some players. Three players who were seeing floor time (Jordi, Kriisa, and Dzellat) did not play today.

Over the period since 1/11/26, the Cats are rated #20 in the country per barttorvik.com. Since 2/1/26, #11. This is a quality team. Unfortunately, they jeopardized their postseason with their play during the first two months.

About 1/2 way through the 2nd half (even though previous games told me otherwise) I began to believe.

Some people here have been on Thomas for missing a lot of shots. To be truthful, Thomas did miss some clean open shots in the first half. However, Thomas hit some big shots when the game was on the line late in the second half. Tillery also played some strong minutes and hit some key shots. If he can just learn how not to turn the ball over. Cudos to Thomas for stepping up and making plays when the game was on the line. That is how games are won.

This should be a proud moment for the University of Cincinnati basketball program for beating Kansas like it did in the famous Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

Impressive win, shows what they're capable of, which I think almost irritates me more than I am able to enjoy it, because it doesn't really mean much in the end, if they're not a tournament team. I guess we'll see.
Unfortunately roster turnovers is the new norm today. Players are looking for more money instead of wanting to play for a specific coach / school. For CWM to have any success he has to figure out how to get his teams to play together way way earlier. Although it is the typical goal to peak in Feb. you can't just roll over or disregard opponents at the beginning of the season. Every game is important. You have to find a way to win the games your supposed to win.

And I was one of those who was all over Day Day in the first half so I'll climb onboard the kudos train for him. He did make some crucial shots. All too often when shots are not falling they keep on shooting and there's no one to take up the slack. It was nice to see DD and Celestine both hitting. That was an unexpected surprise

I've always been a fan of Day Day. It's seemed to me that more times than not, his strongest time has usually been the 2nd half. Over his career, it seems like he's made some great shots in the final minutes in numerous games. He'd be the guy I'd go to for a final shot.

Tillery needs to learn about doubling he falls to the drive of one who is covered by a teammate and leaves his man alone. I have seen n easy pass for an open 3 several times. Plus he plays with his arms on the double and fouls or let the man drive to the basket. I have seen CWM yank him right after watching his defense. he had to play yesterday and I am glad. The team needs him to learn especially on defense.

                      • Part of the reason that Day Day miss shots is because his teammates dribble around and waste the shot clock and then gets him the ball with 1-2 seconds remaining on the clock and he has to just throw it up.

                        • I like Tillery 's game. It's getting better by the game but defense is the harder of the two to learn. Especially in today's AAU circuit. I hope He stays around for awhile no matter what happens at the end of the year.

I thought Abaev would progress like Tillery has, but that ankle may have really set him back.

                            • Early in the season I thought Shon looked lackadaisical as in overconfident. Now I think he might have been lost as in overwhelmed. If it is the latter and he sticks around he could definitely contribute next year with some coaching.

                              • Missed this one live in favor of curling. Had to put on the recording when I saw the result. We couldn't miss in the last 10 minutes, and the few times we did we grabbed the offensive board. 48 second half points! We put up 1.24 points per possession for the game, out 4th highest output of the entire season and 4th straight game scoring more than a point per possession. We mase 12 threes, 11 of 19 from midrange, and rebounded 41% of our misses. Thiam hitting those hook shots with regularity really opens up the offense.

Celestine was statistically our best player with 8.9 net points. He hit 4 of 8 threes as part of 14 points on only 9 shots and added team highs with 8 rebounds and 4 steals with zero turnovers. Baba was second best with 7.6 net points, scoring an efficient 14 points from the field on only 8 shots. He went 2 for 2 from deep and is now 5 for 8 during the win streak. He added 4 for 6 at the line, 7 rebounds, and a game high 8 assists but also turned it over a game high 5 times. Thiam was just behind with 7.0 net points, scoring an efficient 24 from the field on 17 shots including a ridiculous 7 for 8 from midrange. That baby hook was working all game. He also had 8 rebounds and 2 assists with zero turnovers and zero fouls.

Day Day was our worst player with negative 5.8 net points. He hit a couple of big threes to kick off our big run midway through the second half, but finished with just 10 points on 14 shots with zero assists . Tillery was second worst, scoring 6 on 6 shots with a couple turnovers. Jizzle was third worst, scoring just 5 points on 7 shots with 4 fouls in 19 minutes, though he didn't turn the ball over.
