Imagine some of the players that could be bought with that amount of money? I think it is fiscally irresponsible to fire him now. Put it another way...we just gave Wes 4.1 million to not work for 18 days.
Thinking back. I think it was irresponsible for the athletic department to give Wes an extension when he had proved nothing so far. Had Wes not been given an extension we wouldn't be talking about a buyout to begin with, IMO

Or $4.1M could have gone to another coach over a 5yr period. I like the statement. IMO it needed to be made.

He did beat Wes this past year . . . . I think UC needs someone the fans can get behind. Calhoun might be that guy due to his ties to UC and to Huggins.

Chad said Evans may or not go and expects a most leaving. Yet there is money to build a competitive squad.

There are others that the article lists as long-shots. Not certain how reliable this list is either.
    Thanks man.

If true, then respect to Cunningham for disregarding the deep pockets on CWM's side. JC had to let Wes go or his job was next in line. I think JC had made up his mind some time ago, which is why Wes got so emotional in his post-game interview several weeks ago. The team went on a good run after that as Wes tried to save his job but it was too late.

Chad said Calhoun just makes too much sense and should have his own board apart from others.

Can't wait until April 1st and always take the cheap way out. The cheap way out has gotten us nowhere so far. We're right back to square one again, hopefully they'll get it right this time and hire a proven winner.

Read my above post. Chad B said some were on WM's side and Cunningham knew his job was on the line. I would imagine that you are right as more deep pockets had to be for the firing.

Groce is a coach with a highly competitive spirit. However, his time at Illinois was not his finest hour. For instance, he averaged 15.2 losses a year the 5 years he was at Illinois. Also, he earned one NCAA birth during that time and did not earn any post-season playing opportunities his last 2 years.

He has done fairly well at Akron. He has won 20 games 4 years out of the 7 that he has been there, He has averaged 11 losses a year while at Akron. For his career, Groce has averaged 13 losses a year.

In closing, Groce is another high loss coach that appears to be better suited for mid-major level competition.

Chad Brendel said on the air just now with Mo Egger (1530) that Calhoun wants to be here.

If he is genuinely interested in the UC job, seems like it could be a quick search...
