"The ACC also considered UConn and Cincinnati for membership. However, sources told ESPN the league only wanted Louisville because there is a sense among league presidents that the ACC can add more schools at a later date if the ACC lost any other schools."
Adding Louisville reduced each ACC member's revenue share. Adding UCONN and UC will reduce them further. That is why they did not move more aggressively. There are no more revenue positive moves to be made. Each move from now on will be done in a more strategic manner from the 4 biggest conferences. The ACC will be forced to react much like the Big East has been doing for the last 7 or 8 years.

UC / U of L / UConn to ACC?

This leaves UC and USF as the only remaining BEast members when UC joined. And, the recent additions of the football schools only makes it at or slightly above C-USA football as it was when UC left. This is a sad day for UC athletics. Hopefully, the gods of conference realignment shine on UC and they are invited to the party.

UC has sold out Nippert x1 in the last 3 years. We have to plead w/ the Enquirer and local electronic media for coverage..... We have a stadium that is cozy for 25K, but cramped when we have bigger crowds..... We can't keep our coaches..... AND YOU WONDER WHY THE ACC TOOK LOUISVILLE OVER US??
We had a great run. Frankly, I enjoy watching FB of all types, even little kids, and if the big boys don't want us, then all the "kicking and screaming" from people on this board isn't going to matter a hill of beans.
So there.

Not The Best Not The Worst
If I remember correctly we had some pretty good MBB teams in the Conference USA days.
Football will become a little more tricky. Against our new peer group we will have a decided advantage in facilities and more challenges to sell it to the local fans. OOC scheduling becomes more important. Coaching stability becomes a thing of the past and we should not want it. We should want coaches that want to get to the next level.
Maybe the conference merry-go-round starts sooner rather than later!
I think we will wind up in the ACC eventually, whatever is left of it.

With all the pending movement you have to wonder how long the bball schools hold togtether. I do not know for sure, but i suspect the big east war chest$ which will be very fat after all these departures makes holding that together somewhat in their best interest.

The only really positive way to look at this is from a basketball perspective. If back in the Conference USA days anyone had asked us if we would be willing to sub out UL for UCONN, Nova, Temple, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Providence and St. Johns, who would have said no to that? Still a very strong basketball conference that a good coach can recruit to. (All of this puts a LOT of additional pressure on Mick, by the way, but that's another post).
From a football perspective, it just sucks. There really is no positive spin that can be put on this. Sure, our competition for the one BCS spot just got lighter, but talk about all your eggs in one basket. It's BCS or the Beef O' Grady bowl against the 10th ranked team in the ACC (or something). Plus, we now are on the same level recruiting wise as the other schools that have been added to the Big East, such at Memphis, Tulane, etc. I hope we can maintain a higher level of play then those folks, but not sure I can say with confidence that we will.
What makes this so hard is that, for a few glorious years, we had a spot at the big kids table. Now, that spot is gone and who knows when/if it will ever open up again.

No matter what though, I will be there to root for UC!
Our next discussion, probably in 3 days or so, will be who our new HC is going to be. Stability is something UC FB just can't ever find.

ACC Votes to Add Louisville
I don't know what's going to happen, but I have to agree with Bains, "This crud is far from over."

SEC isn't done yet either, NCSU and VT are in play there. NC, GT and UVA for B10. Where this merry-go-round ends is anybody's guess.

No mention of Navy anywhere in that article. I think it was just a name that some of the ACC folks threw out there as a lame attempt at a parting shot to Maryland.
