That's been in the works for while. NIU is doubling their TV revenue out of the gate with this move.

McMurphy said it was to be finalized at the next BOT meeting. This move will reignite the NIU rivalries of UNLV, Nevada, San Jose St to name a few. NIU spent a few years in the Big West back in the 90s. It appears to be a money grab only. Olympic sports may find a home in the Horizon or Summit.

The ACC and ESPN have come to terms on media rights through 2036. This probably ends expansion talk for ACC schools unless FSU really, really wants out

Realignment news today. Northern Illinois is moving their Olympic sports to the Horizon League, and Cal Baptist and Utah Valley are leaving the WAC for the Big West. The WAC may be done after this as Utah Tech and Southern Utah are rumored to be going to the Summit.

This is the 4th time the WAC has been left for dead after significant departures in 1978, 1999, and 2012-13. Is this the final end for a once proud league that has included Arizona, Arizona St, Boise St, BYU, Colorado St, UNLV, Nevada, New Mexico, San Diego St, SMU, TCU, Tulsa, Utah, Utah St, and Wyoming?

Because conference realignment remains alive and kicking, here's one more round of action involving the true champion: Billable Hours. ($)

Matt Brown at Extra Points had a interesting newsletter this morning. ($)

There appears there will be a big mid-major realignment push going on soon. Probably will not affect UC in any way but some of the smaller basketball conferences could see some upheaval.

The P12 appears ready to invite TX State as their 9th member and 8th for football. Also, Memphis continues to try to escape the AAC (P12 football and BE basketball/other sports), if they can make the finances work out.

Memphis has the same issue as USF. They don't own their facilities and don't have complete control over them. This was at least partially why they got left behind. At least USF had the sense to build a football stadium

The P12 & TX State just made it official The Bobcats will join next July and begin play for the 2026-27 seasons. The conference will now qualify as an NCAA D1 entity.

They wanted to get into the TX market, and this was their best option.

From The Athletic ($), Sacramento State is trying to force its way into FBS. The NCAA turned down their application, citing the need for FBS conference affiliation beforehand. This piece lays out Sac State's potential donor commitments from 12 super-wealthy individuals (the "Sac12"), but that is contingent upon the school attaining FBS status.

The P12 and MWC already turned them down, but the Sac State brass remain undeterred. There are hints in this piece that they could go the legal route, but they don't specify as to whom they might sue. I suppose it would be the NCAA, but why should the NCAA be forced to upgrade any school just on the grounds that that school insists?
