I don't think it was the sole reason becuase he's got a ton of experience at this point. I do think this brings up the question, does Kerry still have legit recruiting pull in the city and state after being out of the HS ranks for so long? He knows the region obviously but does he still know the right people at the schools? He's 62 years old. Kerry's a football guy so he'll probably go at it until he can't but it does make you wonder if he's still effective as a recruiter OR whether Satterfield is just going to ignore the tristate area.Originally posted by red_n_black_attack View Post
Wasn't this the sole reason to keep Kerry Coombs on the staff?
Going back to what I posted previously, Satterfield had 3 guys from the entire state of OH on the Louisville roster that I can track and one of them was Luke Kandra who transferred home. There are two Ohio players left on the UofL roster. An OL from Mason and a guy from Perrysburg.
Brohm did recruit Ohio when he was at Purdue. I don't think he was terribly successful at it but guys we were chasing in past classes also got Purdue offers in a lot of instances. I bring this up because you don't want to cede territory to other regional schools in recruiting if you can help it.

It will take some time to establish those relationships. Satterfield does seem to be a likable, genuine person so the coaches should not be turned off by his personality like Dumberville. The only question is how will this dreadful season impact recruiting - it has to hurt.

That's the only one I can think of but I haven't looked at the roster from UofL.Originally posted by D.A.H. View Post
off the top of my head, he did pull luke kandra from elder
It's going to be interesting to see where we are in year 3 or so with the guys Satterfield brings in. He obviously recruited decent players at UofL because that roster plus some Brohm recruits from Purdue are ranked #11 in the country and have gone 8-1. He didn't leave the cupboard bare down there. Louisville fans and donors just wanted Brohm from the jump and never accepted Satt when he got hired instead.

I would agree with this. I think it might take him a year to get in the door with locals. He didn't recruit the Ohio region at Louisville either I don't believe. I hope that changes soon.
