  • Whoa.... Vandy Selling Their Tickets!

Come on Bearcat Fans, don't let Vandy make this a home game!

    B.C.

    From the Memphis Newspaper today:

Vanderbilt needs more Liberty Bowl tickets

Vanderbilt has sold 8,800 of its 10,000 tickets three days after accepting an invitation to play Cincinnati in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, The Tennesseean has reported.

Vanderbilt will soon be requesting additional tickets, and director of athletic communications Rod Williamson said they would also be located in the Commodores' fan section of the stadium.

"It appears spending New Year's Eve in Memphis is appealing to fans and they're pretty fired up about the football team," Williamson said. "We never did think we'd have a problem with the 10,000."

Coach James Franklin tweeted that he wanted Vanderbilt fans to buy up 20,000 tickets, but then he readdressed that number after practice Wednesday. "I found out the stadium holds 60,000, so the number I'm comfortable with now is 30,000," Franklin said.
"A witness to the pinnacle of UC Football, the 2020 and 2021 seasons... not likely to ever happen again!"

If they're offering free hoops tickets as an inducement to buy Liberty Bowl tickets, I'm guessing sales aren't good.

You can give it a patriotic name, but it still sucks.

Or they're trying to capitalize on the demand for bowl tickets to get people to come to the basketball games too.

I don't have a negative agenda -- it's just looking at the situation objectively. There have been no updates about ticket sales (you would expect the university to be crowing about sales numbers or touting the need to "act now" before the allotment is sold) and now another e-mail comes offering an inducement to purchase. That suggests, to me, slow sales.

Vandy gets to play their bowl game 3 1/2 hours from Nashville, it's their first season with a new coach, they had a very nice year, and it's only the 2nd bowl game for them in the last 30 years.

No one should be surprised that their fans are excited, and we shouldn't feel badly that they have sold so many tickets.

Having said that, I'd love to see UC sell their 10,000, but that's gonna be very hard to do when you can only get 27,000 to show up for a HOME game to clinch a Big East Championship.

            Go Cats!

I think it has more to do with the basketball situation since they are giving basketball tickets to everyone who ordered bowl tickets, even those who made purchases before that email went out.
Our goal is for someone to be asked, what's the best program in the nation? And the answer be: Cincinnati.-Mick Cronin

Maybe I could contact to ask how many tickets were sold? I am thinking about going there, but I have a mandatory work schedule on Dec. 31. Grrrr... To be a true diehard Bearcat fan, I will have to skip my work and get fired so that I can go to the Liberty Bowl game.... Any thought?

My sister bought tickets for the game which includes 2 for my wife and me. I just sent an e-mail to the folks at the ticket office and if they need to sell more tickets and have some students willing to use them, I'll buy some more and donate them (good for UC now and helps ensure better times in the future).

Folks, even if you can't go, buy at least one ticket and donate it for use by a student.

I'm going with 7 other people. Can't wait.
I hope Cincy fans show up in mass like they did at the last 2 bowl games.

Can someone post where we can buy our tickets? (link) - let's represent down there. Collars, Pead, Wolff & the rest of this senior class deserves a stron final showing of appreciation for making UC so much fun to watch the past 4 years.

And no updates since Day 1 sales.

Sadly, I don't have final say over whether or not I go. That'll be mostly up to the GF.
