From the Memphis Newspaper today:
Vanderbilt needs more Liberty Bowl tickets
Vanderbilt has sold 8,800 of its 10,000 tickets three days after accepting an invitation to play Cincinnati in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, The Tennesseean has reported.
Vanderbilt will soon be requesting additional tickets, and director of athletic communications Rod Williamson said they would also be located in the Commodores' fan section of the stadium.
"It appears spending New Year's Eve in Memphis is appealing to fans and they're pretty fired up about the football team," Williamson said. "We never did think we'd have a problem with the 10,000."
Coach James Franklin tweeted that he wanted Vanderbilt fans to buy up 20,000 tickets, but then he readdressed that number after practice Wednesday. "I found out the stadium holds 60,000, so the number I'm comfortable with now is 30,000," Franklin said.
