    Cancel 2019 O$U Game!

.....unless we bring AAC refs, like VT brought ACC refs to Columbus.

Now that I have had time to "rehash" the game, some troubling parallels between last night, and the game 15-18 years ago seem to be emerging.

In that first "close game" back in the late 90's, we had a 17-0 lead on them. The crowd was stunned. They came back, and ultimately the score was 24-17, in the fourth quarter. UC drove, and one of our receivers made a nice TD catch, and suddenly the game was tied.

But.... the refs called an "offensive" pass interference call on the receiver, nullifying the TD, and we settled for a missed FG attempt, as I recall. Nobody knew why the bad call was made, but it was, and all of a sudden, UC's MO was gone.

Last night, when the score was 30-24, and we had BIG MO, we have two very "suspect" calls; one offensive PI, and then they didn't call a definite defensive PI call.

The O$U bank paid UC nearly $900K to move last night's game to Columbus. With the move, the rules change (to help "make sure" they don't lose the game).

As you guys know, FB is a game of momentum. One bad call can stall BIG MO, and I submit to you that the refs, and their "handlers" were NOT going to let UC win last night. Sure, the D sucked, but their's wasn't much better. We can live w/o the 2019 paycheck they will hand out.

So I hereby ask the "powers up" to move the 2019 game to Nippert, or CANCEL it.

    B.C.

I agree. The Off PI call & the linemand down field penalty was total BS. The second
did not even have a flag on the field. This is just like the IL game last year when we
got hosed out of a touchdown & they called it a fumble.

I'll disagree on the lineman down field call. I thought it was garbage live but on the replay, all of our lineman are down field. Why? Because Evans was supposed to run a naked bootleg and instead threw the ball when it wasn't a designed pass play. The linemen were expecting run and moved up to block the second level in run blocking.

I can't can't fault Evans for improvisation because Moore was just standing there but if he runs , no penalty gets called.

BTW, canceling the game is not something we can do unless OSU agrees to mutually cancel the game. We would have to buy out the game and I'm not seeing the money laying around to do that.

Besides, you can't beat them if you don't play them.

Yes but there was no flag thrown on the play & the guy was like 2/3 yards past the
line of scrimmage. The announcers even said no flag was thrown & they said lineman had no effect on the play.

Ridiculous!!!Cancelling this game would be a huge mistake.

I debated not taking your bait as this is an inflammatory statement. Instead - I ask that you consider this program is going up. The ceiling is the limit! Even under the new playoff format, we have a chance to break into the Big Bowls every year. I suspect, we'll be there 1 out of every three years with our talent and coaching.

Then at least renegotiate the contract, so at least half of the officials are from the AAC. Virginia Tech was smart enough not to go in there with a full crew of Big Ten refs.

Doesn't make any difference, you can have a hold on one side with the play run to the other and the penalty is called - how many times have you heard announcers say that an illegal block or a hold had no part in the play but cost the team a td or a big gain. HOWEVER, I'm glad to see that the penalty on the td play was what I finally figured out - sitting up there in the oxygen required area I never saw a flag, and never heard the call. On the offensive pass in. call it looked like the UC staff was about to have a heart attack.

Anyhow - you can't win without any defense whatsoever. The only time OSU had to punt in the first 3 quarters was on a stalled drive where 2 wide open receivers dropped first down yardage passes. In the 3rd quarter the guy sitting next to my wife opined that he considered it a major success each time we held them to field goals. You give up over 700 yards of offense and officials or no officials you aren't going to win any games.

I have no idea what TT does for the rest of the season, but I can't see how we aren't currently dead last in the country in defense. And interestingly I think it all starts with 2 defensive tackles. They do not seem to have any ability to either stuff inside runs or put enough pressure on pas plays to require any offensive player support - we end up cheating to the inside and then get beat to the outside. And that doesn't even begin to get to the absolutely abysmal tackling. We don't wrap up anyone.

Well, if you like a lot of scoring - come on out to PBS to see our Cats, cause you are going to see a lot of it on both sides.

Was at the game last night. Scalped great seats at the 40 yard line behind the Bearcats bench. The OSU blowhards around me were difficult to take. When they had a holding call (the only one against them) a lady behind me was yelling 'let em play!'. On the bogus pass interference, which happened right in front of us and we ALL saw Holton being held, the impartial blowhards were in agreement of the PI. They were all sayin, 'yeah, he pushed off'. When I turned around and said, 'you have to be kidding, that's ridiculous', there was no response. Although my seats were great, I wish I was in UC section. A more sorry fan base would be hard to find.

As far as the game, the defense was horrible. However, this team is a work in progress. They will get better. The front four has been disappointing. I was hoping some of the defensive shortcomings had to do with a new D coordinator, but the questions go deeper. I was at the town hall meeting earlier this month, and will be at the one in the fall. I will ask Tubs about the defense and whether he will take a more hands on approach. He said at the 1st one that the reason he doesn't have much turnover on the staff is the he doesn't micromanage and let's the coaches do their job without interference. But having been a defensive coach, he has to be embarrassed with what he is seeing. The offense, though, should be able to score every time they have the ball. We should expect touchdowns with each possession, just like we did in 2009. The offense will improve its consistency, which should help the defense by keeping them off the field. BTW, we are in excellent hands having Tuberville as our coach, and the recruiting will improve as will the onfield product. As disappointing as yesterday was, they didn't roll over when down 30-7. The national audience saw a team that fought back against adversity in a hostile environment. They, like all of us, saw that the zebras also did all that they could to make sure that an upset would not occur. There is nothing that we should be ashamed of.

The TV audience may have seen the injustice of the officiating but those that did not watch just see the box score and think we got manhandled.

No shame in being manhandled at the horseshoe. Has happened to much better teams than UC in the past. My point is let's not overreact to this game. A win would have been magical. A blowout would have been embarrassing. This was in between.

It's not a huge crime to go into the Shoe and lose a game. OSU will most likely defeat the majority of their B1G opponents by 14+ points, and will probably beat Michigan by 30. Anybody who looks at the box score or was at the game can see that we got manhandled. After we outscored them 21-3 it was all OSU from their, and our O was completely ineffective.

All this team needs is some help on defense and they would have been right there in that game. What we saw last night is the same thing we saw in the first two games. It doesn't matter who we play, if this defense doesn't pull itself out of the cellar the opponent is irrelevant. You need to worry less about whom we are playing, and more about the reasons the defense has imploded. We're close to the worst in d1 from what i've season. Can't stop the pass or run.

Agree - and the two penalties that are being debated didn't lose the game for UC. I hate to say that UC's defense was terrible - I think they are deficient, but they also were on the field for the majority of the game, so I'm sure they were worn out. The offense was quick and efficient, which was a positive when making the big come back in the third quarter, but had a downside... the OSU defense did not get tired. That's why in the fourth quarter, they were able to stifle UC's offense. Overall, the score doesn't tell the story of the game, but even if it did, UC has nothing to be ashamed of - the effort was there. Play that game against a more evenly matched (talent wise) opponent, and UC pulls a victory.
