FCS BoG has decided that it's up to the schools and if more than 50% or more of the teams cancel there will be no FCS championship. Still waiting on what this means for individual member schools. Just because the Championship is canceled doesn't mean the remaining teams like Austin Peay won't play their in season schedule.Brent Wyrick

Quite of few more non-UC players have opted out for the season. Most are planning on returning. Rondale Moore at Purdue declared for the draft today. First player I've seen explicity say that.
No UC players have opted out. They want to play the season.Brent Wyrick

The MAC has cancelled its entire season. That’s removes 2 of our 3 remaining non conference games from the schedule.
Still awaiting word on FCS teams from the OVC which affects Austin Peay.Brent Wyrick

What might be a bigger and longer term concern are players forming unofficial unions. This is from SI today, which mentions that UCF players are starting to get the AAC involved…

Athletes from a fourth Football Bowl Subdivision conference are on a path to joining the Pac-12, Big Ten and Mountain West in the latest player-driven movement sweeping across the college sports landscape.
A document entitled a “Proposal for Change" from “student athletes in the American Athletic Conference” was circulated to at least four schools in the league this week. It listed 10 concerns, ranging from COVID-19 safety to scholarship security to a request for “hazard pay” and 20 percent of AAC revenues.
The document, obtained by Sports Illustrated, originated at Central Florida, according to three sources. Those sources also said UCF has paused workouts in recent days, although a school source said that at least one missed workout was unrelated to player unrest. Several schools contacted by SI do not believe their players are involved in the movement. “I think this is a UCF problem and we’re getting dragged in,” one said.

Ideally, the pay is negotiated with said national player's association or union so pay is same at all schools. Pay is used to cover books, room & board, and any other cost of attendance. Write into contract that class attendance and grades are part of the deal. Most tuition reimbursements require a C or the tuition is charged to the student. Require minimum number of players per team and a maximum, 70-80 min/max sounds reasonable. Contract is good for five years to cover 4 years of playing. If player plays in first 4 year and isn't going pro, the player can take 5th year of classes by participating in practices or otherwise helping the team, but not play in games in year 5. No 6th year or longer option unless hired onto coaching staff.Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

One of the reasons why the trend line of the number of cases is going down in August is that the country overall is doing less testing this month. Some of this is politics but a lot of it has do to the hurricane that just went through the east coast. The testing centers in those eastern seaboard states closed temporarily for safety reasons during the last week so there are no numbers coming in from those sites right now.
I love that our guys want to play and that no one opted out but I'm not sure it would be the smartest decision on their part to actually go out there. There's no doubt, this would have been a good season for UC and it sucks that the players might lose the oppotunity to show it.Brent Wyrick
