Mark it on your calendar that on this date, I predict that no teams from the ACC, PAC, or Big 12 will make the CFP. There will be 2 teams from the SEC and at least 1 team from the B1G. The final spot will be filled by UC or another B1G.

I wasn't sure where to stick this one but here's Chris Vannini addressing CFP/NY6 stuff regarding UC and BYU. ($)

    https://theathletic.com/2870376/2021...more-g5-drive/

One of the things mentioned here is that BYU is not eligible for the NY6 auto-invite so they basically have to make the CFP Playoff or it's off to the Las Vegas Bowl again. We don't have that issue if we don't win out or get jumped by someone.

I think you can safely give up on IU helping us out. They're 2-3, have scored 6 points in conference play and lost their QB last weekend. Their future schedule has 3 more ranked teams on it.

We need to keep an eye on BYU. The Cougars are unbeaten, including three wins over PAC-12 teams. They have other P5 games upcoming that could allow BYU to vault over UC, if they win out (Baylor, VA, Wazzou and USC), not to mention Boise State this weekend. That might be a tall order for the Cougars, but they're #10 right now, so they have a shot, even if the Cats win out. The AAC has been a disappointment thus far in 2021.

    Go Cats and Broncos!

Ohio State played that game with a QB making his first start, not to mention several new starters. They have improved a lot since that first game. We all know a lot depends on WHEN you lose. Does anyone want to bet against them the rest of the season?

Here are 3 articles from theathletic.com ($) that mention UC as being worthy of CFP talk. In the first piece, Seth Mandel has the Cats as #4, playing the Crimson Tide in the Cotton Bowl. He also has BYU grabbing an at-large bid to play the Sooners in the Fiesta Bowl.

The second piece from Max Olson gives kudos to UC, but it also has a funny section on the outcome of the Vandy-UConn game.

I see your point. It’s all pretty subjective, but this early in the season it seems like a stretch to rank a team above a team they lost to when they both have the same record. As you say, time will tell.
