High Point, Low Point

I guess it’s safe to say we are at the all time UC Football high point.

In regards to the modern era, I’m not going to pick the 81-0 loss to Penn State Penn State as the low point, as we rebounded the next week to beat Louisville. The low point, IMHO, was when UC lost to Morehead State, a D-1AA school around 1989 or 1990, at home, with a score of something like 28 to 20. There were probably 7500 fans in attendance.

What a difference 30 years makes.

I think seeing the season come so close to disaster and then Pike to Binns at the end made this one particularly memorable. Dan Hoard went NUTS.

Just rewatched UC-Pitt thanx to the link (I was at the game in 2009). Mardy Gilyard might have had the greatest game ever by a UC player.

Mardy Gilyard was an exciting and electrifying player. One of my favorite all time Bearcats. His kickoff return for a touchdown changed the momentum in that game.

I watch the highlights of the Pitt-UC game once a year or so. Pike, Binns, Gilyard!!! Gives me goosebumps. The position we find ourselves now might be the highPOINT, but that game was definitely my bearcat FB highLIGHT over the last two decades of being a fan.

Binns gets the credit for the final TD but Gilyard was all over that drive starting with the kick return, then almost every pass completion until the famous one to Binns. Just an incredible game getting behind by so much early to the come back.

I'll slighty disagree. The low point was 1987 when we played Indiana St. in an away game in the Hoosier Dome. The game was supposed to be in Terre Haute and I don't remember why it ended up not being played there. We lost that game 40-16 and the result of that game is what got Dave Currey fired. I had the pleasure of being there for that one. My memory is fuzzy on details but what few fans were in attendance had basically checked out and started socializing before half time hit which was a pretty common occurence in those days. The schedule from that season included 3 teams that are now FCS. We were Independent in football and in the Metro for basketball back then.
