It will cost Cincinnati $3.5 million to buy out Satterfield from Louisville, according to Satterfield's contract with the Cardinals. Fickell's buyout when he left Cincinnati for Wisconsin was $3.5 million.

Satterfield drew the interest of the Cincinnati with the job he did building Louisville back up in the wake of the 2-10 season when Bobby Petrino was fired. Satterfield led Louisville to three bowls in the past four seasons and emerged as one of the country's hot young coaches while at Appalachian State.

Horrible hire

Let's wait it out a bit and see. He had success under very bad conditions within the worst athletic department at any level. He can recruit. He can maximize NIL. He is an offensive minded coach which is what we need in Big 12. We aren't exactly a depleted roster, and our facilities are top notch. I think the on campus stadium will still give us great advantage.
