Yeah. But Kirby and coaches of that caliber aren't coming to A&M if they're smart.Between the boosters and expectations, It's a hornets nest.

I'm seeing all this on Stoops just now. So looks like A&M had him hired and word leaked, boosters got mad, and everybody backed away from the table. Typical A&M.

Speaking of Harbaugh, I think he's going to end up jumping to the pros because of all the recruiting and cheating suspensions. I don't think Michigan will fire him, he'll just be invited to leave.

On Jonathan Smith. He was a Beaver alumnus. That makes it sting more for Oregon St.
Money does talk with the MSU job, although CLF turned it down. tOSU has a lame duck AD so whatever he does with Day, he won't have to hear about it. Former players are publicly calling Day to leave, but the damage control has already been started by Urban. For UofM they have a hero coach in waiting as Moore whipped the Buckeyes. Will be an interesting off season, but Day has to make a statement with his staff to save his face. Perhaps more power to the two coaches in waiting Brian Hartline and James Laurinaitis. They are young and need experience, but they are there.

Ditto. Tye AD was bullied or bribed, both are bad looks and are reason for immediate dismissal

I actually just saw this on ESPN. "What now for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes, losers of three straight to their archrivals? A backdoor entry to the College Football Playoff like last year seems highly unlikely. Ohio State’s national title drought is approaching a decade, and Day, despite producing strong quarterbacks and offenses, hasn’t found the right formula to get the Buckeyes over the top. John Cooper comparisons will start to be made, and some big and difficult decisions are ahead for a program that has undoubtedly lost its grip on the Big Ten. – Adam Rittenberg "

    J. Smith got out of the PAC 2 while the getting was good. On a side note, tosu lost for the 3rd straight year to UM. I doubt that will put Day on the hot seat but tosu did fire Cooper because his 9-win seasons without beating UM was just too much.

This happens just about everywhere to be honest. Money talks. There's alway a set of top tier donors at various schools that have say and sway over a lot of things and are trusted to for input on decisions. I can think of several schools in Texas alone that have this situation. Tilman Fertitta at Houston is one who comes to mind immediately. Red McCombs at Texas was their guy until he passed last February. SMU has several of them that basically bought the school's way into the ACC.

Part of the job of an AD is fundraising. Harder to do that if your main donors aren't getting a return on investment. It's really a business. You have to keep the shareholders happy.
