Houston is the only newcomer in the BIg XII to have knocked off a legacy conference team. They've beaten WVU and Baylor, both on the very last play of the game. They took down WVU on a ridiculous Hail Mary and beat Baylor on an OT QB run and 2 Pt conversion. The Coogs started slow this season with a close win over UTSA and a loss to Rice that is pretty equivalent to UC losing to Miami. Shouldn't happen for the most part. Just on the eyeball test they've played a tougher conference schedule than we have and hung in there with Texas for most of the game before picking up an L.
As is typical of Holgorsen coached teams, they're running the Air Raid offense and go about 2:1 pass to run. Donovan Smith has been very good with over 2300 yards and a 65% completion percentage. He's also the second leading rusher on the team. Houston really does not have a dominant running RB on their side as they lost guys to the transfer portal. Smith does have a tendency to take a lot of sacks. He's up to 20 on the season. His receivers are Samuel Brown and Joseph Manjack although Manjack went down with an injury in their last game and I'm not sure what his status is. Matthew Golden is the go to guy in the Red Zone.

Solid win with still some questionable calls on offence. But a win is a win especially on the road.

P.S. I also like that they continue to give Brady L. meaningful snaps in the games, and it's done in a way that doesn't kick E. Jones to the curb.

I'm happy that the Cats won, and that there weren't signs of quitting by the team. The sounds coming out of the FB program indicated problems, but at least they were put aside and the Cats fought to the finish. So, my hat's off for the coaches and the players.
I'm still wondering how Pace didn't block that punt in the 1st half; I guess he didn't want to pick up a penalty, but he was past the punter before the punter even kicked.
I continued to be baffled by the decisions to take a pass on points in order to get more points, given the offensive problems near the end zone. And I don't like unnecessary plays, such as the play at the end of the game where instead of kneeling down (on first down), they ran a running play. There was nothing to gain, except for padded statistics, but much to lose if somebody had been injured on the play. Yes, fight to the finish, but at that point the clock was our opponent.

Good game, but once again we left points off the scoreboard. When it is 4th and short, and we are in easy FG range, UC should always take the 3 points, as we never get the 1st down.
Very surprised at the poor crowd in Houston, considering it was Homecoming.

One UC penalty that wasn't taken on purpose (delay at end). They earned some takeaways. Pass D was the best of the season. Did anyone notice how few times Kalen Carrol's name was mentioned? Teams aren't even throwing his way.
Now, it's time to build off of this. The Mountaineers are beatable. The game next week is in Morgantown, but their D is suspect at best.

Team looked good on both sides of the ball. Overcame some bonehead calls by the coaching staff. Great win.
