Some coaches know how to win and put the hammer down and put teams away.....some don't. Ours doesn't. You can't play to NOT lose.

No, they ran Pryor off tackle for a loss of two. Then, they didn’t know how to adjust to Pitt pressure on Sorsby and had to punt, game over. Anger. They tried to run clock the entire 4th Qtr. Anger.

The playing not to lose is a pattern with the staff. Don't get it. This would be much a more palatable loss had we been aggressive in the 2nd half.
I'm not going to throw Veidt under the bus. We don't currently have to talent to run this scheme. That's going to take another year at least. The scheme is designed to bend and not break and the defensive backfield broke today on several occasions.
I've seen several social media posts blaming Carter Brown for the missed kick today. It was absolutely not Brown's fault. Snap was good but he kicked the laces dead on. Plain as day on replay. Mason Fletcher has to spin that ball so the laces are out. That said special teams had a lot of missed opportunities today on coverage. The punt that rolled into the endzone was a coverage failure. Not because our guy couldn't keep it out of the endzone but because Fletcher held the ball before the kick and we only had one guy downfield to make a play. Everyone else got fooled by a fake fair catch.
That's enough negativity for now on my part.Brent Wyrick

On to positives.
Sorsby took a beating out there and completed some really nice passes under pressure in the first half. He's the guy. He went for 200 yards in the first half until Pitt adjusted in the 2nd half. The pass to Mayes was absolute perfect placement.
Royer is a weapon. He's going to to the NFL. Mark it down.
Kiner had 149 yards today and racked up a lot them up in the 4th and should have had more.
Anyway here's the Box score:

Among everything else that I saw today, there are three things that stand out in my mind about today's loss: 1) after Pitt scored their last touchdown that brought the score to a two-point game, UC had the ball just before the two-minute timeout. Kiner went out the game and did NOT return. Why leave Kiner out of the game when Pitt could NOT stop him? He could have eaten up yards and run the clock down; 2) Why does Satterfield continue to call the offensive plays. Since he has been at UC, Satterfield's play calling has NOT worked out well at all; 3) how in the @#%$ can the coaching staff allow what happened to the team last year happen again this year (all those unanswered points in the third and fourth quarters)? I could NOT believe what I was seeing today. You would think that the UC coaching staff would have learned a lesson from last year and NOT let something like that to happen again. Guess what, it happened again in almost the SAME way. It really did. You all saw it.
Despite all the things that went wrong today, UC has some REAL offensive weapons to work with (Kiner, Sorsby, Royer, etc). What UC is missing is some solid and imaginative offensive play calling to help move the ball when the other team's defense steps up its play. The bottom line is that Satterfield should let SOMEONE ELSE call the plays on offense.
UC blew a very good opportunity today.Last edited by leeraymond; 09-07-2024, 08:08 PM.

The “donors” everyone refers to are the Linder Family. They need to put the money up and send Satterfield on his way. Anger is the best way to sum up my feeling on the team since he took over. He had zero passion at the end of the game. He shared a chuckle at the handshake with Narduzzi. He’s a natural loser.

That’s even better. Value Engineer out $15m from the new building to send Satterfield out of town. The players don’t need to be pampered while losing anyways. I know the buyout would be the most our university has seen, I guess I’m just trying to understand the impact. Don’t spend $15m or whatever it is now, lose and be god awful for two years going forward, and still pay about $9m to fire him after we’ve cast ourselves as the worst program in P4?! There’s 35,000 seats in Nippert. If each seat donated just $450 one time, there’s your buyout.
