True but we were 1 pt and 17 seconds away from 4-0. This team is really hard to gauge right now.

Additional weird stat. That was the first shutout of a P4 team this season.

Speaking of Miami, the were ahead of ND at one point 3-0. They were not embarrassed in South Bend today.

The Pittsburgh game was lost by bad coaching decision our last possession. On first down Kiner picks up eight yards. Instead of leaving him in there he is pulled out. Pryor loses yardage on 2nd down and then incomplete pass on third forces a punt.

Kiner should have never been taken out of the game. When you have the lead and the ball keep feeding your best running back the ball to run out the clock.

I blame the Pittsburg loss on the coaches.

Coaching definitely cost the Pittsburgh game.
Against Houston, we saw what the 3-3-5 is supposed to be, but I still think we won’t stop the run against better competition. Time will tell, and I hope they figure it out.

1990s - James Gamble Nippert Memorial Stadium A good read for some of our younger members.

Why did they have to bring up the 81-0 beating by PSU. I guess to show the contrast with the changing program 10 years later.

They brought up the 14-3 victory at Penn St in the previous 80s write up. You definitely want to read that one. There's a couple of nuggets in there that I didn't know about particularly how were technically I-AA when we beat them.

A guy I used to work with was a walk-on for UC that season, playing on return teams. He said four Bearcats were injured on the opening kickoff. It went downhill from there.
