426 yards passing, 4 TDs, 50+ yards rushing, dancing out of pressure and throwing dimes, the emotional leader…he played amazing. INTs are part of the game.

Not sure what game some of you were looking at, Sorsby and his passing (and running) kept Cincinnati in the game all night despite the turnovers. Like I have said before, there is nothing wrong with the offense. However, UC's defense is God awful. The defense cannot stop anybody. Think about this for a second, UC gained 555 yards on offense, had the ball about 4 minutes more than Texas Tech, and scored 41 points AND STILL LOST THE &*%$#@ GAME.
Last night Satterfield was asked twice by reporters, on two separate occasions, about the defense and he basically centered his response around players missing tackles. He was not lying, but what about the lack of pressure on the quarterback (by the way, UC had NO QB sacks last night), what about the ease with which receivers can catch the ball, what about giving up all the big plays? There are so many things wrong with the defense, where do the coaches even start to address problems? Maybe they can start by getting the DB's out of playing all that zone defense. Zone defense gives up too much passing yardage.
Guess what, the schedule does NOT get easier. If UC could not stop TT's passing, what will it do when they play Colorado and its passing game? What about Kansas State? What about Iowa State? You get my point here. I have played organized sports as a youngster. Coaches can sometimes be arrogant people. If they believe in a system, even if it is NOT working, it is hard for them to admit when they are wrong or if their system is NOT working. Right now, Cincinnati's defensive system AIN'T WORKING. The good thing is UC has a bye week this week. That gives them two weeks to re-evaluate the defense and to change what is not working. The defensive coaches first need to swallow their pride and admit that the current system gives up too many points. The next thing they can do is change it. Will they do that is another story.Leave a comment:

I also don't understand the criticism of Sorsby. Did he make a bad play on the pick 6? Yes. But overall he was tremendous, leading the offense with his passing and running with our top 3 running backs out. I also think the play calling on the last drive was OK - it got us in a position to try a field goal to tie the game which, unfortunately, was missed.Leave a comment:

Sorsby is the last player who deserves blame for the loss. We lose that game by multiple TDs with Jones at the helm last season.Leave a comment:

We lose top two running backs and top WR in last series; the next man in is ready and performs. The Sorsby INT happens. I'm not convinced on the 3-5-3 scheme, but Satterfield is a good coach, not great. Wish we had Sorsby last year. The offende is cooking. That defense needs something I cannot place my finger uponUC has lost two games by a total of 4 points. The Pitt loss was on the coaches and no excuses for that performance - utter failure in that game. And the TT loss falls on Sorsby and the pick six. But I remain encouraged by how the team never quit, had a chance to at least tie the game late and maybe had a chance to win but for the two ten second “penalties” at the end. Still not convinced about Satterfield but there is still hope for the season.Leave a comment:

Too many injuries, too many mistakes and I'm still wondering if Satterfield can call a reasonable game. The fact that we still overcame a lousy game in the defensive secondary is somewhat heartening. Sorsby did a lot to make a number of positive plays when his pass protection broke down so I guess it evens out. Kicking.....even Money Mac missed one last week. At least we have a chance with his leg on the long ones. And he did a good job on kick offs.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I don’t think I’d call his game amazing when he threw a pick 6 during a pivotal part of a game we lost by 3. He also had a game defining INT that was dropped in the final 6 minutes of the game.Last edited by Bearcat93; 09-29-2024, 06:06 AM.Leave a comment:

Running play in last 20 second was a bad coaching call. Defense had so many missed tackles in the back field.Leave a comment:

So many 10 second runoff, targeting reversed call and defense could not stop was all that she wrote.Leave a comment:

I guess our "wonder kicker" is human after all. Should have made one of those two.

They lost the game when they called a run with about 35 seconds left then had to blow their last timeout.Leave a comment:
