gonna make a claim like this, then prove it. Otherwise you’re just as bad. As admin, you should know better.

Some of the points the story made:

    1. QB Ewers from Texas has free use of a private jet, to go home whenever he wants.
    2. The "haves" spend 8 times what the "have nots" spend to recruit the best players. Texas spent the most, and O$U was a close second. The Big 10 and the SEC spend more than all other conferences combined.
    3. CTT said that unless changes are made, college football will forever be changed and ruined.
    4. Many big schools partner with big businesses to form "collectives" to raise money. Would be like UC partnering with Krogers.
    5. 2000 players have entered the portal this year.
6.. CTT feels players should get paid, but that there should be a limit (sort of like a salary cap) for each school, to keep some sort of parity.

Overall, a very good story, which supports the idea that NIL and the portal will ruin the game for schools like UC unless changes are made. Apparently, congress is looking into doing something, which probably means nothing will be done.

Thanks for summarizing this. I haven't seen interview yet but I'm sure it got recorded by someone.

Take everything from CTT with a grain of salt. He's not exactly known for thorough or correct research on things before opening his mouth these days. Granted that he's the only (?) Senator with FBS coaching experience but he was out of the profession before any of this happened so he probably likes what he knew better than what it currently is.

    1. Ewers Has an NIL deal with the private jet company for endorsements. I'm not sure that's any better but he's also from Southlake, TX and probably can afford one anyway. He also has an NIL endorsement deal with Uber.

    2. This wouldn't surprise me but I'd like to see the actual numbers that he's basing this quote on. Also, who qualifies as who in this scenario? Can a P4 be a have not? Asking for Wake Forest.

    3. Horse is long gone out of the barn Tommy. Thanks for playing.

    4. I like the Rheingeist answer above. Although, I understand Publix has come to town up there and if you wanted to thumb your nose at Kroger for sponsoring UK, there you go.

    5. Fuzzy stats here. At one point there were over 2700 FBS players in the portal but if you include all D1, it's way higher ~ 11,000. Either way he's under counting.

    6. He's not wrong on this one. You have to level the playing field between conferences and even schools within a conference to some extent. If it leads to a split of P4 and G5 into separate divisions with different caps then fine.

maybe community / home town pride? to market that they do indeed support the local schools? goodwill?

2,000 players in the portal and more than half of them will not find a landing spot.

you mean kroger's? like, UK's kroger field? - they don't seem to be real big on uc, kinda like p&g, who even have the field named after a family member - it would be nice to see more local companies putting money into uc athletics - is uc not trying to pump them, or do the companies just not care
