Because of what Fickell and Kelly accomplished here. They proved that the right coach can win here, and the fan base is far more engaged now than 25 years ago.

I think that is a problem with CSS. He does not fit into the culture of the city, like BK and Fickell did. He may be a nice person but he doesn’t have that personality that appeals to the average booster and fan. That’s okay if the results on the field are good enough that you overlook that fact. Like Day at aO$U - boring, business like approach but the results are hard to dismiss. CSS just does not gel with the community like past coaches have.

I agree with all of those above but Pat Narduzzi. He's too freakn' arrogant & I don't believe he's that good of a coach.

Mike Mickens, Gino G. Walter Stewart, Pat Narduzzi if he gets sacked, Tyson Hilton are names that i have seen mentioned with ties. There must be others.

If we move on from Satterfield after this coming year, I think it's imperative that we get someone with regional ties. Even if they're not up and coming, you absolutely need someone who will recruit locally and regionally in about a 6 state footprint. Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. You compliment that with GA and FL. This is the recipe for success at UC. As we all know, coaches who do not fit this description have a bad history here.

Other than that I have to agree with bearcatjd. Let's get out and support the guys that are here now. They choose to play for UC regardless of where they're from and that's not lost on me.

I am an optimist. I believe we will get better next year & if not Satterfield will be gone & we will get a new coach. I will always come & support the team no matter what. I am a fan, an alum & will always be at the games. I believe we have 7 home games next year that should help. Can't wait till the next football season starts. Go CATS!

Yep, when I hear we are offering portal recruits from schools like William & Mary and Samford, I know next year is going to be ugly.

Another 4-8 season will cause the fan base to drop greatly, and we will all long for the days of Brandon Kay, the Kelces, and the Belk Bowl win of 2011 (or whenever it was).

Google his track record at Holy Cross - small enrollment and limited resources.
If it is the HC job, Mike Mickens might come home. There is some deep pockets associated with the football program. While they may have paid a big part in getting CSS, I hope their love of the Cats will be the spark to pay out CSS and dig deep for a new HC.

There is so much parity in the Big 12 that it wouldn't take you long to rebuild and get into CFP. Obviously, if you were coming into the SEC or B1G it would be harder to rebuild and get to the top. Who knows? You might even be able to lure an Urban Meyer out of retirement. He would have an easy path into the CFP.
Only the champion of the BigXII will make the playoffs. The SEC and B1G will eventually take over the playoff spots excluding everyone else. So, unless UC can win the conference championship, they won’t have a chance at making the playoff. And with the balance of the conference, a non champion from the BigXII won’t make it. Even the BigXII champion will be excluded eventually. It’s merely a power grab to make the blue bloods become the only schools with a chance at a NC.

I’m assuming that 2025 goes no better or even worse than 2024. CSS is asked to leave at that point (I would hope). Then players begin leaving via the portal. It’s a slippery slope, all of it feeding each other. UC may become irrelevant within ten years of making the playoffs. What kind of coach would want to take charge of that state of affairs?

UC has been a stepping stone before. I am sure many a young coach (assistant or HC) would jump at the chance.
