I agree the 3-4-4 defense sucks. We put absolutely no pressure on the opposing teams' qb. They can then just sit back & cherry pick us to death with the passing game. I hope we don't play a good team in the
bowl game, we will get embarrassed again.

i say get rid of the defensive staff, hire Al Golden (he will come available at year end, get our top players back and let’s see how we don’t defensive and TOP has caused us to lose these last 4 games,
Al Golden left CFB due to NIL and the portal. He won't go to any college team.

We have a "sad state of UC Basketball" thread. Let's start a "sad state of UC football" thread. That's the only way we're going to get through this is to vent our feelings to one another. Problem is nothing will get done until it's financially feasible to do so and even then money becomes a hindrance in that we can't afford to pay someone with national recognition to coach here. Even entering the B12 UC is still a stepping stone destination.

ESPN's prediction on a bowl game. I hope it is NW, as Penn State will wanna finish strong, to make up for their weak season:

          Rate Bowl
          Chase Field (Phoenix)
          4:30 p.m., ESPN

          Bonagura: Cincinnati vs. Northwestern
          Schlabach: Cincinnati vs. Penn State

Sorsby is being noncommittal about playing in the bowl.

He might as well, as he is not NFL material.

CBS Sports just updated their bowl projections. This might be one of the worst (yet winnable) bowls yet:
Independence Bowl Dec. 30 Cincinnati vs. Western Kentucky
                B.C.

If Sorsby doesn’t play in a bowl game then he is probably going in the portal 😢

I agree 100% unless some deep pockets step up. I am so disappointed in the team right now. I want a winning team but sick of the poor play against quality teams.

Sorsby won’t play for UC from now on. He will enter the portal and land somewhere that needs a QB with his skillset and can compensate him accordingly. Loyalty is extremely rare anymore. He had a solid season. We would not have won as many games without him.

yep. appreciate his efforts, but agree that he's probably gone. i tried to not post after the latest debacle. at this point, though, i don't know if i care anymore. big question, for me, now is, to renew tickets or not. anybody else out there on the tix fence?

Program will be in bad shape next year if a handful of the remaining good/experienced players leave, if Sorsby is any indication of what may happen. I guess we'll see. But if an exodus occurs, I don't see how Satterfield's staff survives it next season, just stuck paying him and waiting it out. It was really a bad, bad hire that should cost Cunningham his job along with the Miller hire really. I'd love to see them get a competent AD in-place this year, and plan for the future with a new approach to NIL and the portal, preferably with a coach that can attract talent and raise money.

Who knows, Fickell and Brian Kelly could be available this time next year.

The team will be gutted anyway, even without factoring in portal exits. There were so many seniors on this team - Allen, Walker, Goodie, Royer, to name a few on offense. McDoom, Corleone, Dingle, Golday, Hunt to name a few on defense. I don’t know who remains to step up but they will definitely need portal additions to even field a team. Sorsby leaving likely leads to others on offense leaving. I sense big trouble for next year.

It's the current discussion that we're having that confirms to me that this is the time to let Satterfield go. Between the good remaining players left (who will leave) and fielding a mostly new team (at least in key positions) along with a much harder schedule, UC wins 5-6 games (3 non-cons and 2-3 B12 games. Cut the cord now.

It will be interesting to see how Cunningham finesses this. The deadline for season ticket renewal for football is Jan.15. Does he make an announcement on Satterville before or after? I can tell you they have been dunning me for months already to renew. I have had 6 seats for 10 years but I am cutting back to 4 because people are just not interested in going. I was able to sell 2 tickets to Baylor fans though! One more thought...any bowl game is going to be cringeworthy to watch.
