In a significant setback for NC State's football program, sophomore wide receiver Teddy Hoffmann is set to miss the entire 2026 season due to a one-year suspension for violating NCAA rules. The suspension follows a positive test for a performance-enhancing substance, which under NCAA regulations, results in an automatic year-long suspension and the loss of a full season of competition.

Head coach Dave Doeren addressed the situation, emphasizing the importance of vigilance when it comes to supplements and medications. "Teddy made a mistake that he's taken responsibility for in front of his teammates and coaches," Doeren stated.

i'd assume that that also means he doesn't get paid any NIL $$ - I smell another lawsuit

I would hope any NIL agreement has language about NCAA suspensions/illegal acts that serve as a disqualifying event from receiving NIL payments.

If Congress passes the "protect College Sports Act" will the B1G 10 and the SEC leave? Paul Finebaum thinks so. Paul Finebaum warns of a major split in college football's future
Side note, almost every conference has signed on to the act except the B1G and SEC.

Honestly, the other schools need to stick to their guns and agree not to schedule any of the BIG or SEC programs if they break away. Maybe there is enough interest there but I think for the rest of us it gets old real fast. Endless repeat of Ohio St. vs Alabama Vs Wisconsin,Purdue...blah,blah,blah. A 32 team league (or therabouts) works for the NFL precisely because of the built in parity guidelines. Not to mention massive international marketing and exposure. Any BIG/SEC superleague would never agree to #1 and would take years to develop #2. I for one hope they try it. But the rest of college football has to be ready to shun them. See LIV golf.

^^^^I am not sure that the smaller schools will abandon the B1G or SEC because of the big paydays they provide for those buy games. I agree with you though that all other schools should not schedule those games.

So, let them break away. Just make it a complete break. No March Madness for them. No college World Series for them. No Olympic sports for them. Drive their travel costs up by making Rutgers travel to USC for women's volleyball. I realize football is the true money driver, but missing out on March Madness will definitely have some affect.

I was once the biggest baseball fan ever. Need to know the Reds starting lineup in 1964, or who won the 1959 World Series, I’m your guy. But in the 1990’s things changed. First the Reds fired Tony Perez over the phone after 44 games. Then MLB turned a blind eye while the steroid cheats blew away the game’s important records. No World Series was the last straw. Today I couldn’t tell the Reds starting lineup. I haven’t attended a game since 1994, haven’t watched on TV, and not listened to even a single inning on the radio. I reached a point where it no longer mattered and I no longer cared.

Today I’ve nearly reached the same point with college football, I’m trying to find a reason to still care, but if there’s a breakaway I’m out.
