    Notre Dame:
Our sources have confirmed that there is an offer on the table for Brian Kelly to be the next Head Coach of the Irish. According to our sources, Brian Kelly's
contract extension with Cincinnati is finalized but not signed.

    I emailed them the following:
How can you post that Brian Kelly is not a candidate for Notre Dame, and then an hour later report that there is an offer on the table? Are these the same sources?

    And received the following response:
some are the same sources, multiple things have been happening over the last 24 hours to change the scene.

do you remember michigan and lsu - les miles sage

exact , exact , exact situation again.........
I'm starting to think I'm the only guy left that hasn't been named the next coach of the Irish.

Of course, I'm willing to say right now for everyone to hear...that if Notre Dame offered me the job I would NOT take it.

With reports saying that both Kelly and Stoops have been offered and neither individual verifying anything, I don't see how anyone could come to a conclusion right now...

I know BK is good at getting his team ready to play, but man it doesn't seem fair for this much talk to be going on as we approach the most significant game in UC Football history. The NCAA should really take a look at the problem this can cause during championship week.

I saw on other blog by non-UC fan who said that BK would be dumb if he did not take the ND job offer. What a d-bag!

I would not take the ND job offer if I have my heart for UC and want to build up its football program from my own scratch.

If Kelly has been offered the job and leaves, would we want him to coach the bowl game?

I think NCAA should set up its new rule to force all schools to end their regular season every last week of November or 1st week of December so that top teams and coaches won't get distracted by rumors or offers. Too bad BK is handling this situation before this weekend's BE championship contest.

This whole thing is ridiculous. Coach Kelly has stated numerous times that he and his team are focused solely on Pitt and I believe him.

All of these stories citing the infamous anonymous sources are attempts by the writers to get their names in the spotlight. They all know how much pub the ND job search is getting and their taking full advantage of the situation. These writers are hoping to scoop everyone else by using dubious sources.

On the drive home today, I listened to 97.1 The Fan and the commentators made a good point. People inside or near the ND athletics department are probably leaking this stuff to (a) throw people off track or (b) to have a good laugh (standing by watching folks make fools of themselves reporting unsubstantiated rumors and hearsay as fact).

A media plot to try to ensure a UC loss so there is no way we can make the NC game. Then Kelly can move on with few regrets....

Not to mention these types of ploys drive website traffic and boost ad revenue & alexa rankings.

I would say no. Get a new coach in here ASAP...those extra practices for bowl games would pay dividends for a new staff, much like they did for Kelly when he first arrived.

Now having said that, I still hope and believe that Kelly isn't leaving.

You hit the nail on the head - in the end, it all comes down to what is in your heart - and no one but BK knows what is in his heart. Assuming he is offered ND, it becomes a simple question. Is he a man that:

                            (a) wants to attempt to build a program that had struggled for decades into a lasting national power and, in the process, become king of the city and a legend at that university (see Paterno, Bowden, Beam, etc.); or

                            (b) does he want to try to rebuild one of (if not the) most storied programs in all of college football, although he will forever be coaching in the shadow of Rockne, Parsegian, Holtz et. al.

Only one person can answer that question with respect to BK and I do not believe he is currently posting on this message board (or any other for that matter).

I absolutely want him to coach the bowl game, especially if it is the Sugar Bowl or, football gods willing, the national title game. We would have a very small chance to win either of those games without him in my opinion. If he leaves, he leaves, but that doesn't change the fact that we could still win our first BCS game ever. Holding a grudge and preventing that makes no sense to me. Get angry after January if you want to (although I would not be angry at him for leaving personally).

                                Coach Kelly's most recent tweet.....

Pitt is tough enough to prepare for but it will be nice given the current weather that we will have an indoor bubble this time next year.
