Watching Auburn/Bama:

Is it just me or are these bands a hundred - no wait - thousand times better than ours is? Defense is about to make a stand and they cue up the Darth Vader theme. It seems like ours only plays during time outs, and then, its a merry little ditty that no one has ever heard...

not our fault. we are told when we are allowed to play during the game. the drum major in charge has a headset and someone tells him if we can play or not. we all want to play more.

can anyone expound on a rumor I heard today that Kelly did not pass the Notre Dame vetting process? Something about his relationships with John Kerry and some folks at Assumption? I have no clue if there is anything to this..just curious

I'm not going to profess to have heard any rumors. But the relatively loud outcry over the President speaking at commencement may not bode well for BK, who worked for a Democrat in the 1980s and may still have the same beliefs.

The whole idea that Notre Dame has some kind of litmus test for a football coach is absurd. They are looking for someone to coach football. Barring some past felony conviction or major ethics problem (which would be a problem for any university) there will be no issue for BK at ND if they feel he is the right fit.

Also, there are more Democratic ND alumni than Republican and probably about as many pro-choice as pro-life. There are some that are far more vocal than others, but behind the scenes, his political affiliation will have no bearing.
