FootballCoachScoop was the FIRST TO REPORT (November 29) that University Officials have been working behind the scenes on a contract extension, one that could keep Kelly in Cincinnati for a long time. According to our source, you can expect an announcement soon and it is almost finalized. Our source has confirmed that Head Coach Brian Kelly will be the Head Coach at UC next season. I have a fealing that nothing will happen (good or bad) until after the Pitt game.

This is what I've always thought.

On Saturday Kelly himself said 'we'll know something in 7-10 days' the outlier of that would be next Tuesday. If ND is looking at him that is when they'd make their intention known.

As a BE conference member they have athletic department relationships that they have to maintain. It would be considered poor form by other athletic directors if they attempt to poach a fellow conference members coach during the week of the biggest game in that schools history.

This year is definitely an anomaly....if you look at previous seasons there are maybe 1, 2 or possibly 3 undefeated teams this time of year. Last year we would've been discussing how IF we beat Pitt on Saturday at Noon to remain undedeated-- there would be no doubt about us playing in the NC game.

I think BK knows he can replicate the situation here much easier i.e the pathway to the National Championship and eventually become the Bear Bryant of UC football .

BK's salary will not be the reason he stay's or goes...with incentives, etc. he should be in the $1.6 mil range this year....putting him in Oregon and Texas Tech range this year....When UC extends his contract BK should at least be in the $2.3 range...which would at least make him the highest paid BEast football coach (Schiano is highest in BEast and 18th overall).

If the choice is Brian Kelly's he will go IMO...
Fortunately for us, it doesn't appear that Notre Dame wants him.

Coach Kelly said, yesterday morning on WEBN right before his press conference, that he was staying. I firmly believe he will be here next year. UC will have the first crack to keep him before ND ever gets a chance. Also, the Irish are going after Jim Harbaugh and Stoops right now! ND will hopefully get what they deserve, a mediocre coach when all these great coaches say "no."

PS....The thing about Coach Kelly staying was also in the news last night! PRAY IT'S TRUE!

In my opinion nobody knows anything. As the old saying goes, "Those that know aren't talking. Those that are talking don't know". There is a very tight circle of people who know and they don't feel the need to show their "insider" status on various message boards.

To wit here is an article on IrishCentral, a site focused on Irish-Americans, where they "confirm" that Kelly will be the next ND coach.

I wouldn't take this report any more seriously than what footballscoop.com says.

That despicable Big East football conference--- why in the world would anyone look for a head football coach in this terrible conference? Wouldn't a team with such deep pockets go after a head coach from one of those Cadillac Conferences, like the SEC, Big 12 or Big 10?? Leave our Edsall's, Kelly's, Schiano's even Petrino's and Rodriguez's alone-- what are we their farm team? LOL --

Seriously, I do hope Kelly has the wisdom and foresight to understand this is the place for him-- I hope he decides that the Frank Beamer route is the way to go...remember? 20 years ago at Va Tech he was Brian Kelly---every job opening had Beemer's name on it...granted he's coaching at his alma mater, but I doubt if we'd see BK coach his alma mater-- Assumption College.
