Footballcoachscoop.com information
I told footballcoachscoop.com that they should gather all of their "sources" together and come up with a cohesive rumor and this was their response:
there is alot going on and if kelly can get them to offer for the second time he might get it....
as notre dame is scrambling......
there is alot going on that we can't legally talk about.Comment

Offer for a second time? Football Coach Scoop will post absolutely anything, so long as it drives people to their site.

Notre Dame is scrambling? I guess they are getting turned down by all their top choices..Meyer, Stoops, Edsall, Harbaugh, Skip Holtz??Comment

At a certain point, shouldn't you wonder why everyone seems to feel Notre Dame isn't a great opportunity for them?#41
You can give it a patriotic name, but it still sucks.Comment

If this is the case, they will likely open the coffers up for Kelly - the risk of them looking absolutely pathetic is getting higher.
This supports a previous post regarding whether they are even relevant anymore or not.
The money owed Weis probably doesn't help.Comment

Regardless of how this turns out, I can't imagine what it is like right now to be BK! If his family truly wants to stay, he has them to think about in one direction. In the other direction, there are all his assistant coaches who have been loyal for years that will likely get big pay increases as well. The situation is much more than what's right for BK. There's probably even more things than that, that I haven't even thought about. The insensitivity of some to the situation is unbelievable. However all this turns out, Thanks BK for the wonderful season and the most incredible 3 hours of football I've ever witnessed!Comment

I think Skip would jump at the chance for sure. I think he is probably not at the top of their list. Not sure Edsall would though. I haven't heard Lou mention Skip at all on ESPN but I sure have heard him talk about Kelly going to ND. If ND were really wanting Skip I think we'd hear a lot of talk from ESPN and Lou.
Not that it matters much but interesting to see that Edsall is due to make about $1.5mil next year and has a buyout of 1.25mil before Dec.31 2009...but it falls to $500,000 Jan 1 2010Last edited by broeli; 12-07-2009, 03:41 PM.Comment

He mentioned him very briefly on Saturday night. He didn't say much, just dropped his name when the ND job came up and just laughed and moved on. I would think Kelly would be ahead of Skip Holtz and him or Edsal lwould be their next candidate if Kelly were to decline.I think Skip would jump at the chance for sure. The more I think about this, the more I think Brian Kelly is a scumbag if he takes this offer. Two days after one of the most emotional wins in the history of UC Athletics, he's jetting off to New York for a sit down with his (potentially) new boss.
Mardy Gilyard, Tony Pike and the rest of the seniors had to see this crap on ESPN's bottom line today. Not even 24 hours removed from being announced in the Sugar Bowl, their coach is already bolting on another job interview and telling a national radio audiance he can't guarantee he'll be there on the sidelines to help the kids -- the kids who busted their @sses all year, played hurt, and left it all on the line for him -- win the biggest game of their lives. Less than a week after he told them all he'd be there for them and that he wasn't going anywhere. I know it's a business, but it's his choice to conduct it in this manner. His choice alone.
"I am not Mark Dantonio."
Yes you are, coach. Yes you are.#41
