Feds indict former Michigan co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss

    https://www.detroitnews.com/story/ne...s/82570832007/

Matt Weiss, the former University of Michigan co-offensive coordinator under Coach Jim Harbaugh, was indicted Thursday in a case accusing him of hacking into the personal accounts of thousands of college athletes and stealing intimate photographs and videos.

The federal indictment alleges Weiss gained illegal access to a database of student-athletes at more than 100 colleges and universities that were maintained by a third-party company. Weiss is accused of downloading personal information and medical data of more than 150,000 athletes and using that information to obtain access to the social media, email and cloud storage accounts of more than 3,000 athletes and download personal intimate digital photographs and videos "that were never intended to be shared beyond intimate partners," federal prosecutors said Thursday.

The House settlement has been approved and schools will officially start paying players directly soon.

I'm not sure what this means for UCATS and Cincy Reigns but I expect a merger of sorts.

Also, multiple sources report that the new CSC CEO will be Bryan Seeley, who has worked for MLB. At least some of his duties have involved investigations.

pretty sure that cincy reigns will be rolled into ucats, if it hasn't been already

They may be ready to merge, but the settlement doesn't go into effect until 7/1/25, so I wouldn't expect it to be up and running until then. (Not that rules have never been broken before around the NCAA landscape.)

Which is conveniently the beginning of the fiscal year for UC (or at least it used to be)

The College Sports Commission looks like they're running the NIL show now.

Is the College Sports Commission controlled by the B1G 10 and SEC conferences?

No. This is a theoretically independent NIL regulatory body

It still is. The state's fiscal years run from July 1 to June 30. Since UC is a state university, I have to believe UC has the same calendar.
