5 years starting at the earlier of HS graduation or 19 yoa. Depending on when he graduated HS, he may have another year. Also depends on his age when he graduated.

No waiver requests, redshirts or exceptions will be permitted, except for a small group of outliers (those on maternity leave, military service or religious missions)."

That might be part of the school selection process, but the miscreants might have targeted smaller schools that virtually no one pays attention to. No big TV games; no national attention. Just hoping to commit crimes with no one noticing (they thought). They didn't take into account that the sports books have access to mountains of data analysis that can pick up on out-of-the-ordinary betting patterns.

This is only one scheme that has come to light. There may be much more below the surface.Amazing how somebody somehow buried the story involving the NBA. What did they think was going to happen!?

Many college players among 20 charged in point-shaving scheme

    https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...shaving-scheme

Twenty men have been charged in a point-shaving scheme involving more than 39 college basketball players on 17 NCAA Division I teams, leading to more than 29 games being fixed, according to a federal indictment unsealed Thursday in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Among them is Carlos Hart, who led Eastern Michigan with 15 points versus UC back in November...

This may be the end to the NCAA enforcement body. An Alabama judge just ruled to reinstate Pruitt (formerly TN coach) who was on a 6-year ban for recruiting violations.

Some more names have cropped up in the gambling probe. One of them, Da'Sean Nelson, was one of the first players that Wes Miller offered after UC hired him in 2021. Nelson, from Toledo Rogers HS, was at Kilgore CC then. He went to DePaul, then on to EMU, where he allegedly was involved in the illicit schemes.

The NCAA is not involved but there have been several articles about sports betting and point shaving. This article lists a few names and other articles have implicated US Senators. I believe that Steven A. Smith also has an article about this.
