Be confident. Yes, UC is lucky to have Coach Fickell, but it's also an awesome, well-supported job that made it possible for him to be successful. Three out of the last four coaches have done very very well, and if he ever leaves, you can be sure that it will be an incredibly popular position.

Yep, his name will come up now for every job that opens up and this won't be the last. It's a product of big success. Nobody knows that more than the administration and trustees. You have to work within your means obviously, and you have to hope that his time here has been as positive as it can be for someone in a high pressure job and throw your hat in the ring. He's clearly laid a blueprint, and I hope he's here at least another 5 years at minimum. Having been to Baton Rouge, it's not an area I would want to live over Cincy, but everyone is different. I think Lsu's coaching search unless they already have someone lined up(possible) could be similar to their defensive coordinator search. Lot of big names, but not takers. It will be really interesting if they go on a winning streak over the last half of the season. Could be a lot of second guessing then. Go over to Tiger Rant and look at the number of threads on the search. I would not want to have to work for a fan base as expectant to win big every year.

Coach Ogeron will leave LSU at the end of the season. Will LSU offer the job to Fickell?

I don't believe many folks were afraid of him going to USC, but from what I hear CLF has already told Bohn he is not interested. Has anyone heard anything about possible efforts to expand Nippert to increase attendance and create more dollars to pay coaches?

Wondering if his freshman lineman son might enter into any decision. My gut is telling me that he is an Ohio guy and only one position could get him to leave here.

What amount do you think he deserves? Can we really afford to pay him his fair market value as we pay exit fees to get into Big 12? Had we received Big 12 invite in 2016 and were just now getting a full share, we could easily do it, but it will take some creative financing (i.e. Big donors) to pay him his value.

I don't think he leaves, nor do I think he wants to leave, so an agent can help assess what he should accept to stay.

Although, CLF has shown his loyalty in the past by taking over the UC job while still coaching tosu in their bowl game that year. Unlike Kelly leaving and taking his entire staff with him prior to UC's Sugar bowl. I have to believe that CLF will finish the entire season including the bowl game before he leaves. I do not believe he leaves though.

I don’t worry about coaches leaving. As much as I like Fickell and his staff, UC has had tremendous success in identifying and hiring good coaches. And who can blame Fickell for advancing his career. If he has an opportunity to take job in a city he likes running an elite program, I would not fault him at all for seizing the opportunity. He could stay at UC forever and become a legendary coach in UC’s history but sometimes that is not enough.

Just to be clear I don't expect FIckell to leave. I do expect him to renegotiate his contract sometime very soon.

If he's going to leave, I'd much rather have him out west vs something regional like Kelley, so he isn't poaching local talent nearly as much. One thing about this job - it comes with one of the best recruiting areas in the country. What have Kelley or Dantonio done since they left here? It's a pretty sweet gig now.

If UC can pay him enough, I don't know why he'd leave at this point, with the Big 12 coming up, and a top 10-15 program. Ohio State seems like the only job that'd make sense, why transplant your family cross-country?
