My guess is this is not over for UC.

And the NCAA still has to get that Texas judge ruling overturned, or there are no rules on gambling for college athletes.

I am tired of the addicting of America. There is absolutely no medical proof and just conjecture. Addiction is a big business $$$. I wish to bring back the days of Nancy Reagan and "Just say no". As a Christian my view is that it is only being addicted to one's fleshly desires and only caring about that. This is why Jesus told the leading Jewish teacher that he would have to have a new start and not just rituals and programs. Jesus called that being born again and not attendance at church or programs. Paul said it is possible as he wrote ": "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!"". A whole new life. I agree that the addiction to pleasing the desires of the flesh is a life time addiction unless one submits to the Lordship of Christ and receives complete and total victory. I am not talking about going to church but a spiritual miracle which Jesus does in man. Then grow up in that new life by prayer, bible study and quality Christian fellowship. I shared this as others shared their belief concerning addiction and so it is fair to share mine.

Yep. He’ll flip on his car radio and get a Fanduel commercial. If he tries to watch a game on tv he’ll see ESPN Bet or something else. Everywhere you look these days it’s sports books. He’ll have to climb Mt. Everest every day.Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostLongtime,
I listen to a lot of radio. Specifically political radio. When Hunter Biden was big in the news, some outlets claimed that he recovered from his addiction. Other outlets stated that once you are an addict, you are always an addict. If you are not using, you are in recovery but you will always have the addiction. You just have to stay away from that addiction. if you just try it once, you are hooked again. If gambling addiction is the same as drug addiction, a gambling addict will always be an addict that is in recovery. You are correct, he will have to be watched day and night. He will have to just say no every time the urge hits him. At least he has admitted that he has a problem. I hope that he can find a program that will help him stay away from gambling. I also hope that he does not turn to other addictions. Often, if a person gets addicted to one vice, he has an addictive personality which could be transferred to other vices. That was my public service announcement for the decade.

A writer for The Athletic asked “Is there enough time before July’s supplemental draft for teams to fully understand his recovery and mindset?” Recovery from addiction is not a month long or year long process. You’re in recovery the rest of your life. Look at Pete Rose. After being told “to reconfigure his life” to be eligible for reinstatement, he moved to Las Vegas and hung out in casinos every day. Stanley Wilson was praised for beating drug addiction, but relapsed and disappeared the night before the biggest game of his life. In both cases they had everything to lose, and lost everything. Sorsby will need to be monitored 24x7, and that may not be enough. I’m not saying he can’t beat it, but with legal gambling everywhere just going to the stadium for him will be like a struggling alcoholic walking into a bar. The leagues, college and pro, allowed the gamblers unprecedented access. What a mess.

I know its wishful thinking and knowing the greed that prevails throughout the world today, I think I would enjoy it if no NFL team opted to to draft him. I don't wish him any harm, but with some of the ridiculous things being said concerning Betman, such as keeping him from playing this year could harm his chances at furthering his career. Maybe he can have a good career in the CFL.

That was obvious. But I put in my 2 cents worth because there are media talking heads tossing out Cleveland as the first team they mention for Sorsby, with some leading off with the Jets-Jets-Jets instead.Originally posted by bearcatjd View Post
That post was an insult & a joke about Cleveland!!!!!

As a longsuffering Browns fan, I'd be very surprised if they bid on Sorsby. New HC Todd Monken made negative comments about having to deal with the baggage. Also, GM Andrew Berry traded Myles Garrett for three high picks, including the Rams' 2027 #1, with the intent to use the draft capital on a 2027 QB. He knows they aren't going to compete in 2026. The Browns may be the youngest team in the NFL.

Now that this saga is over, it's time to start making the "We're betting the house on you JC French" signs for game time!

Per Cody Campbell, Sorsby has already received $1M, which appears to be the extent of what he'll get.Originally posted by D.A.H. View Post
a couple of questions, as to details. we may never know, but just curious. Will / has TTU (ie, Cody Campbell) "bought" out BS's nil deal? will BS reimburse UC, as he's apparently, contractually obligated to do? or, will UC back off, due to concerns about what may come out, as to what it knew about BS's gambling? how long will it take TTU to live down the stigma that it acquired, in this whole mess?
i'm sure that all parties just want this over, and, by next week, it may be completely out of the news. who knows?

I am tired of the BS . I saw bad passes and two years ago I thought he was injured and couldn't throw. Who knew (well perhaps UC and IU). Nothing has been proven and nothing will be, butttttttttttttttttttttttt. The interception in the Nebraska game had me wondering. I wonder just how good UC could have been. What a shame. I can't stand to read about him.

I thought the same thing. The kid would thread a needle then overthrow it 10 yards out of reach. He had several receivers and a TE drafted in the NFL and yet our offense stalled with his missed passes. I chalked it up to nerves as he had talent, but not mentally able to handle the pressure cooker passes. I hope we are not right in guessing this could be him taking money to fix games.Originally posted by Rufus View Posthe did nothing impressive while he was here. Of course hindsight is always 20 20 but it could be ascertained that he was betting on game outcomes while here which would explain a lot, although that has not been determined to be the case.

Edit. Will any teams take the risk? How can they ever trust the guy? Maybe there’s a team that would risk a 7th rounder.
