Rowan Brumbaugh posted a 3.5 BPM at Tulane. High usage efficient scorer with 59% true shooting. He gets to the free throw line and the rim a ton. Good passer, takes care of the ball, makes 36% from deep. Just a solid all around offensive player. The concern is he had a negative 3 BPM in 6 top 100 games as his shooting percentages cratered across the board. And he had a negative DBPM on the season. So the question is can he be efficient in the Big12 if he's not tasked with being the sole creator, and can he defend Big12 guards.

Tyler Tejada had a 4.3 BPM at Towson last year. I'm taking that. High usage wing with size at 6'8" who gets to the line and converts 88%. But my concern is that he's a poor shooter who shoots more from midrange than anywhere else on the floor. I've seen too much of that over the last 20 years. If Calhoun can get him to improve shot selection, he could be valuable. He was abysmal in 3 games against Big12 competition, shooting 15% from three and was unable to get to the line and posted a negative DBPM. So some upside but a few red flags.

Agreed --I expect a well coached team this year showing bearcat grit. I expect a winner next year-- Doesn't have to be the conference or the NC but a clear winner. I will translate - no crown next year.

      • Chad B wrote between 8-15 depending on various issues. I am far from Chad with his sources, but the word was over 10 this year and if CJC delivers in Cincy style much more next year. The money is there, they just don't want to throw it away. I will translate no more DS.

        • CJC said in his presser, or in an interview (can't remember which) that they like to get their portal guys midway through when the price point settles. Something to that nature. No need to panic...yet.

Of course he was speaking of his 2 million budget and not his new plus 10 budget. No need to panic, but he is playing with a different hand here at UC.

Just the exact opposite, I am not panicking at all. All I'm saying is we need a legit PG.

Out of all of the teams needs, I think a legit PG is the main one. Build a team around a solid PG! Where in my post does it say I'm anxious or panicking?

It’s not you but other members of this forum. I apologize for not articulating that point. Other posts in this thread make it seem like the season starts next week and we haven’t signed any players yet. Everyone needs to relax and be patient. Today is the fourth day the portal has opened and the first day that visits are allowed. Patience, Daniel-san.

No need to apologize at all. Very early in the process, as many have said.

Looks like Rowan Brumbaugh could be a legit PG. Hard to tell how his stats translate at the Big 12 level. Not so sure about Tejada, time will tell.

It appears that CJC prefers taller guards. Which could explain why Tillery is in the portal. Brumbaugh is 6’4” but as anyone notes his play could fall off against B12 competition.

                      • I joy the banter back and forth. We should be able to attract those players that CJC needs to
be successful. Keep in mind in his introduction
he wants his kind of players. I like that, knowing his background and the success he has found
he understands this Storied program better than WM or Brannen. Good times are ahead, Keep the Bearcats faith, going to get super exciting

I totally believe you have your hammer squarely hitting the nail on the head.

that begs the question - who, if anyone, is he visiting this weekend.

                              • I know it's portal season right now, but do we have any idea on potential high school recruits that this coaching staff is currently targeting? Perhaps still too early?
