I wouldn't throw big $$$ at Tillery, but I would have made him an offer. Thiam on the otherhand played himself into a big payday after last season. Regardless, I don't believe we have a shot on keeping him.

Perhaps Tillery was given an offer and his agent valued it as too little.

Why would CJC throw big money at Tillery? He’s unproven with some upside. Not worth paying the big money. Thiam was going to require big money regardless who the coach was. When you enter the portal, you are giving up your scholarship and the players are aware of that. Now if a team decides to resign them they can but I would think most teams would let these players go with so many options out there if they’re not interested in playing for their current team.

No you can not blame the current players for exploring their options since CWM was fired. A few of us said at the begining of this transition, a mass exodus would take place.

I really didn't think any of the players would want to come back. Thiam was going to attract all the Blue Bloods and rightfully so. Not many 7' Plus players shoot the ball the way he does. He's also young, and can be coached into being a better defensive player.

If UC was going to spend Big $$$, it should have been on keeping Thiam first, and Tillery second. Those two players have the most upside of any on last years roster.

I do not believe any of the big men 6' 10" plus will be as good offensively as Thiam this coming year. Maybe better defensively / rebounding. As far as Tillery goes, CJC probably breaks even on this one. My only concern, are either of them true PG's?

Time will tell how good CJC is! We're starting over again, the 3yr window starts now.

Not a single high performer from P4, right?

I think that there is a P4 in football but a P5 in basketball if you include the Big East. Afterall, just look at the accomplishments of UConn. At one time, the Big East added football to grow their brand and it worked until the conference expansion exploded and half the teams fled and the remaining football schools divorced the Big East to form the American.

Folks patience is hard for a true fan I know. I know CJC and Cory Evans know we need a complete roster too. I always said give CJC a pass his first year as long as we see progress. I hope to live up to that and not get frustrated. There is still time and players available, plus what if some get the fifth year. I am sure we all want the Cats to succeed after the last few years, but I just read in the bible -Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Gal 6:9 -- I will be happy to see some good fundamentals, growth in skill and team play. If that continues, we will see players attracted to the Cats and more wins.

Didn't WM run away Skillings who was praised as being in the NBA in a year. Tillery had not played to the level of DS his soph year, but Tillery was just a frosh. I have yet to see big money thrown his way while he is out there. It may come as teams panic. Give it time, as Sedz says there are PGs out there plus there are some overseas.

I thought they had offers from UC. Maybe once they entered the portal those offers were revoked.

Because CJC said anyone who enters the portal is basically not welcomed back. I'm not so sure I agree with that Philosophy.

This team definetly needs HELP at PG. Not many teams would turn away a potential NBA Player.

These guys seem to be quality additions but not the type to break the bank, and we were supposed to have a lot to spend this year. Still time, so I don’t know how concerned to be. We probably need at least 5 more bodies just to practice.

I have seen posts that list Elamin as a power forward. However, Utah State's roster from last season has Elamin listed as a wing. My question is, where does Elamin best fit in? He is not heavy enough to play PF in the BIG XII. Does he have the perimeter skills to effectively operate as a wing? So, where does he play?

I feel this way too, we've gotten the back-end of the lineup filled, but no clear stars. A bunch of guys who are going to be trying to make jumps in either level of play or minutes, hopefully most of them work out, but some of them won't and it's hard to predict who.

Tejada worries me, he's 6'9", but he is not a physical guy, he seems to play like a big guard. He was basically shut down by Sharp (6'3" guard) when they played at Houston and didn't seem to even make an effort to take advantage of his size on the interior. He could easily be a bust if he doesn't learn to play physically and develop an interior game.

Colvin is still the only guy who clearly projects as a starter. There are a number of other guys who could be starters, but there are no obvious stars, even compared to Wes's recent teams and remember, lack of star scorer was one of the big issues Wes had.

Carson isn't a guy I'd want as a starting PG, he basically played the 3 last year. He's more of an emergency PG.

We need a starting PG, a starting center (Allenspach isn't it) and probably a starting PF, all high level guys who are ready for the physicality of the big 12. I'm going to a little worried until those spots are filled.

Tejada is definitely a wing. I noted earlier that he has the size of a 4 but plays like a 3. Mahaffey is undersized but plays big like a 4. I think that dynamic will work. A bunch of interchangeable wings is fine as long as they can defend and rebound as a group.

I'm not as high on Colvin. He's a wing who can rebound and get to the rim. But he's not efficient (only 45% from two, 50% eFG), which isn't great for a guy who's not very high usage. Very inconsistent this season. EvanMiya and Torvik say he's not a great defender. I see him as more of a role player than a clear starter on a tournament team.

Carson played the 3 because he was joined by 6'0" and 6'2" backcourt players at NDSU. His statistical profile is an efficient combo guard. I think he'd be a very capable PG alongside wings who can penetrate and volume score. I worry more about him on the wing because of his size. But he's a versatile guy who can produce at the 1-3.

I think Allenspach can start alongside a strong post defender, which Tejada absolutely is not. In an ideal world Allenspach is coming of the bench, I agree. But good bigs are expensive. If we can't afford an upgrade, a rim protecting 4 would give us a good balanced interior. Either way, I see Allenspach as a 20 mpg guy, so we need another 5 whether he's starting or on the bench.
