Are there any thoughts that Carson might have more than one year of eligibility because he went to Community College?

That's great news!Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View Post
Appears to be the first actual signing
https://gobearcats.com/news/2026/04/...2026-27-season
“Elijah has incredible feel for a point guard,” Calhoun said. “He’s a young man who has great promise and, obviously, there’s significant familiarity for him with our system and for our staff with his game. Elijah can really grow here. He sees the floor well and players love playing with him. Elijah can get downhill, play out of pick and rolls and is a wonderful kid.”Last edited by GoBearcats31; 04-20-2026, 05:33 PM.

I think Tejada has the highest star power this year. Elamin potentially in 2-3 years. We don't have a true starting PG yet but I'd be comfortable with Carson as a combo guard. Tylen Riley would fill that role if he picks us on Wednesday. Biggest need is interior defense. We're looking at a couple defensive bigs in Jayden Hastings and Anton Bonke.Originally posted by Oldtimer_UC_fan View PostWhat is everyone's opinion of UC'S signings so far? Is there any star power? Well I'm breathing a little easier than I was over the weekend now that we got us some pgs. But seriously, everyone of these guys look good with their analytics, bios and highlights on film so if they are the type of "kids" that CJC can coach up and the monster factory can build, then it looks like it just may be fun watching UC bball again. Here's hoping so.Originally posted by Oldtimer_UC_fan View PostWhat is everyone's opinion of UC'S signings so far? Is there any star power? What are our major needs moving forward?

I may be an outlier in the rankings game but, I with the right coach and the right players, you can have a well-coached team that understands the game and plays the game as a team. Every year, the tournament has upsets by mid-majors and the reason is because they play as a team and they make basketball plays. This may not be enough to get through the Big 12 gauntlet, but it may be enough to get to the tournament in the first year. We still need a player that can take the game over in crunch time - see Martin or Logan.

I still think we need that bell cow player, one that can carry the load during crunch time. Someone a little more high profile possibly.Originally posted by Oldtimer_UC_fan View PostWhat is everyone's opinion of UC'S signings so far? Is there any star power? What are our major needs moving forward?

It seems as if we've filled spots #3-10 or #4-11 on the roster so far and have done a very good job of doing so. We're going to need a few more immediate impact players, particularly scorers, (in the mold of Colvin or Tejada) if we're going to take that jump from semi-competitive top 40-50 Big 12 team to NCAA tournament bound top 20-30 Big 12 team.Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostI may be an outlier in the rankings game but, I with the right coach and the right players, you can have a well-coached team that understands the game and plays the game as a team. That's a very good question. You are right in that the monster factory was more prevalent in the Huggins era and not so much with the Miller years. In my opinion that has much to do with the players today / players recruited. Back then, you had players working to get better / stronger in order to keep their scholly, now we pay players to come play. Plus Miller recruited players who mostly just shoots the ball who rarely liked going inside to scrum for rebounds. I can't think of one Miller player who when he missed a layup were willing and eager to battle two three times to put the ball back in ( perhaps Baba ). As opposed to E. Hicks, D. Fortson, etc who would have guys hanging on them and would still get the put back and the foul! The monster factory, to me is where you build rebounders and front court scorers and I would think that to be hard to do when you only have a player for one year. I'm hoping that the players CJC has brought in from USU are here because they want to be developed and the monster factory start producing Bearcats again. Thats what I'm seeingOriginally posted by SKell82155 View PostIs there a Prophet coming in the Cat’s future ?
Also, let me play devil’s advocate as I’ve heard this bantered about a lot in recent months- that is the “monster factory”.
No doubt it was a truism back in Huggs’ days but has it really been so in recent history ?

I have done a lot of research on another reason besides guys getting paid why they don't like to lift weights.Originally posted by Rufus View Post

I think Calhoun is building a team that fill certain roles, has balance and will operate together as a team. We never had that under Miller. I like the guys he's assembled so far even though there is not a lot of WOW factor. I trust that he has a vision and is bringing in guys that buy in to that vision. However I am a little surprised that with both his and Corey Evans' interest and knowledge of the international game that we have not heard anything about any players being recruited from overseas.Originally posted by Oldtimer_UC_fan View PostWhat is everyone's opinion of UC'S signings so far? Tylen Riley announcement on Wednesday

Would be an important get if they could land him. Believe Chad B said on last night's BCJ BBP that he is between Oklahoma and UC.
