The NCAA allows each basketball program to conduct up to two preseason playing events. D1 schools may play two exhibitions against lower level competition, or an exhibition and one scrimmage against any team (without fans or media present), or two such scrimmages. People joke about them being secret, as the schools are not permitted to put out the news of scrimmages publicly. That information almost always leaks out.

The difficult part is getting any hard information as to how the teams did in any scrimmages. No stats are provided to the media.

Practice scrimmages against other teams. Similar to what NFL teams do in preseason before actual preseason games.

This year, UC opens the regular season with D2 Chaminade from Maui, who will be on a three-game swing through the Ohio Valley. All three opponents are participating in the Maui Classic (tO$U, UofL & UC). Normally, UC would call such a game versus a D2 school an exhibition. But they can't, if they play two scrimmages. So, even though the Chaminade website shows all three of the area games as exhibitions, UC does not.

To give you an idea as to how un-secret the scrimmages are, here's a list of the known events around the country:

Looking at the list we are secretly scrimmaging Ohio I and Purdue. Is there any way a fan can obtain the outcome, box score, or other stats after the games have played?

Usually someone like Jeff Goodman is the best bet for tweeting out some info.

Sometimes, Chad Brendel of Bearcat Journal will share some info on a podcast, but I assume most info he gets will be paywalled on their board.

Once in a blue moon (UC/Dayton during Brannen days), it is super tight-lipped.

Who knows with OU, but Purdue--being a Big Ten school with a rabid fan base--it's possible some "leaks" will come out from there.

Though in recent years, schools have not been shy about teasing some stuff too.

Goodluck getting info on these. They don't publicly release the stats and it's a closed gym, with no media.

Most teams play lesser competition, but Houston is scrimmaging Texas & Duke. They must be shooting for the stars this year.

They should be. If they stay healthy this year, they can win the whole thing.

We saw the whole team out bowling up here in Columbus randomly last night. Not sure if the scrimmage against Ohio is up here today or not. But it was neat running into the whole men's bball team. Got some pics of coach and Davenport with my kids.

The Ohio U scrimmage was happening today although it didn’t expect it to be in Cbus. I don’t have any idea when the scrimmage is occurring because it’s a secret 🤫.

OU posted highlights than deleted them. Here they are. Granted they are just pro OU clips so here is a compilation of UC getting beat repeatedly on defense.
