Guess which three teams will play most of their games on ESPN+ next season.

We also know our Big 12 opponents, WVU twice, everybody else once. That means a 14 game league schedule.

Actually, the B12 settled on an 18-game schedule. There will be five home-and-away games each year. However, back in October they announced only one such dual matchup for each team for the next two years, setting these up as rivalries. The remaining four home-and-away games will be determined later.

Thanks, I knew I couldn’t be right about that, so I was coming back to correct my post, and now I don’t have to.

I would have liked a Marquette game for old times sake

As it stands UC, UCF, and BYU are the three weakest teams in the Big 12. That could obviously change in the next few weeks, but if preseason standings came out today those 3 teams would be picked to finish 12-14.

                Wonder if that's the reason?

It's probably a nod to include all legacy Big 12 teams leaving only one opening for the four incoming schools, and Houston is clearly in the best position to positively represent Big 12 next year.

@JonRothstein: Source: Cincinnati will host Merrimack on December 19th at Fifth Third Arena.

Merrimack, as you may recall, won the NEC conference tournament but was ineligible for the NCAA Tournament... thus, Fairleigh Dickinson got in instead.

Over 100 teams listed as participating in early season tournaments, and UC not among them (obviously we'd have heard if they were in one already, just saying). https://collegehoopstoday.com/index....023-24-season/

Hopefully the early season slate isn't just a bunch of cupcakes + at Xavier. Obviously there is something to stacking a bunch of wins ahead of the daunting Big 12 slate, but always good to play a few big games early. Certainly for season ticket holders need a good name or two.

It would be great if we could get a "Buckeye Classic" going among the state's D1 teams.

4 total teams playing across a weekend in November/December.

2 of those teams are either UC, OSU, Dayton, or X.

Then you include 1 MAC school (Toledo, Ohio, Kent St, etc) and 1 Horizon League team (Wright St, Cleveland St, Youngstown St).

Obviously try and rotate schools year after year.

You could rotate sites between the Cavs Arena & Nationwide Arena.

UC vs Toledo & OSU vs Cleveland State on night #1. Winners and losers play each other on night #2.

Feel like it would be a pretty good draw.

Isn't there a rule about the number of early season tournaments within a certain number of years?

Yes there is but It's escaping me as to how many you can participate in over a set amount of years. I think playing in Maui last year means this is an off year for us.

There is no longer a rule anymore prohibiting the # of years in which you can play in an "MTE" -- this is the only guidance I found, separate from the By-Laws https://ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/com...MBB_MTEFAQ.pdf

You can't play in, say, Maui back-to-back years or play in the same event as a conference foe.

UC has played in an event every year for the last 10 or so seasons except for the weird 2021 year in which they had all the COVID cancellations and probably scheduling issues up front.

I paged through Xavier's schedule and have them in an MTE every season from 2006 to date (including hosting an on campus "Xavier Invitational" in 2021)
