UCF stayed in the game with a ridiculous 10 blocks, 6 by Omar Payne.
UCF slid to 73. So they will likely be hovering around 75 unless the team just spirals down the stretch. Can't bank on the road win staying Q1 or the home win staying Q2.

      • Today's scoreboard highlighted by Houston at Baylor which is CBS at 12:00. You should have time to get that one in before our game starts.

        • UC could use a W or two before the season ends to avoid playing on day 1 of the Big XII tourney in KC.

          • K-State upset BYU and UCF upset Texas Tech last night. The K-State results isn't good for UC. You really want to stay out of the Tuesday games at the Big XII tourney. Right now we're slotted into the 11 seed and playing on day one. It's pretty likely we'll pick another loss in Houston so UC beating K-State and West Virginia is huge.

Eh, I don't see it that way. If we want to have anything meaningful to play for come the start of the Big 12 tourney, we'd have to win 3 of our final 4 which assuredly would mean beating KSU along the way. Assuming KSU beats WVU at home tomorrow, they'd also have to win at Kansas AND against Iowa State at home to finish above us in the Big 12 standings if we do beat them at Fifth Third (since we'd own the head-to-head tiebreaker over them).

Ultimately, if we don't finish the regular season with at least a 8-10 conference record, I personally couldn't care about our Big 12 tourney match-ups because we're not playing for a NCAA at-large bid at that point.

              • Incredible game in Manhattan tonight. KSU led WV 63-38 before the Mountaineers went on a frantic comeback. They outscored the Wildcats 41-12 to take a 79-75 lead with less than two minutes remaining. However, Jesse Edwards, who is not a good FT shooter, missed three, and KSU were able to get it to OT.

The Wildcats got the lead and buried every FT they took to come away with their 12th straight win in OT games, 94-90.

Clemson coach Brad Brownell is frustrated that the Big 12 has been able to “manipulate” the NET rankings, he said during a recent radio appearance.

According to Brownell, several schools in the Big 12 put together an easy nonconference schedule in order to boost their efficiency numbers, thus helping their NET ranking.

Brownell argued that there’s really not much difference between any of the major conferences, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at NCAA Tournament bracket projections and the NET. Joe Lunardi has nine Big 12 teams in his latest Bracketology, compared to only five for the ACC.

“A couple of things that folks don’t understand, you can manipulate the NET. … And there’s a strength of schedule dynamic where the Big 12 has managed it with their scheduling. Their nonconference scheduling, they’re playing 300 level teams and winning by 40 and 50 points to increase their offensive and defensive efficiency numbers, which is a big part of the NET tool,” Brad Brownell said Monday on WCCP. “So that’s why you see teams trying to win at the end of games by 30 or 40 points instead of putting in your walk-ons.

Sounds like he and other coaches should schedule differently then, right?

                  • I don't know why he's complaining to be honest. Clemson is mostly likely going to get in . #23 NET , #24 Kenpom and even if you go back to the RPI formula they're 13th. Brownell needs to focus on beating Pitt, Syracuse and Wake so they stay in.

Where's his complaint from previous years that the Big 10 got too many teams in?

                    • Yeah that's a weird take. Seems like he's focused on the marginal teams if he's talking about teams in the field. So take Pitt from the ACC. They beat Q4 teams by margins of 51, 48, and 36. It's not unique to the B12.

                      • This seems like a novel idea. Big bucks needed but you can purchase a lower bowl pass for the Big XII championship that will provide you with seats in KC through 2031.

                        • BYU went into Lawrence and ended the Jayhawks' long home winning streak, 76-68. Without Kevin McCullar, KU isn't the same team. They aren't deep at all and have no one close to comparable to put out there.

Late in Lubbock, TX are up on TTU, 73-55. The Longhorns blew past the Red Raiders from the opening tip, eventually getting up by 27.

Tech fans out there throwing bottles on the floor after Texas body checked someone. Usually they just throw tortillas and batteries.
