The Cougars took out their Kansas frustrations on the Cowboys early and often. Garbage time started a lot earlier than usual. The 79-63 final doesn't tell the story.

Jamaal Shead tore Okie State's zone to shreds, with 17 points by halftime. The Houston D was back to its normal standard, strangling the young Cowboys mercilessly.

The rotation seems to be that Reed comes in for Newmann, and Skillings replaces a 3 or 4, likely Lahkin for now. Give CJ will probably be limited until his conditioning is better, I'd like to see CJ sub in for Simas in the short term, with Newmann/Reed and Vik/Skillings on the floor with him, plus Aziz/Jamile, and DayDay/Jizzle. That is a solid 10 man rotation of players we can truly expect to contribute. If CJ gives us 5-7 points, that gets up over the hump in some of our scoring droughts and close games.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Saturday night marks only the 5th time this season that UC will play on regular TV (not ESPN+).

Rich Hollenberg and Big 12 guru Fran Fraschilla will have the call on ESPN2.

Last time we beat them, Kansas City played San Francisco in the Super Bowl the same week. Omen? I certainly hope so (and that no houston player goes cannibal this time).

I think we’ll do better when the new TV contract starts.

In case you missed the Houston game that happened last night, Kelvin Sampson went NUTS and got ejected. He had a good reason but you can't walk onto the court and make a beeline for every official and scream in their faces. I'd be somewhat surprised if the conference didn't suspend him for the UC game over this one.

I was watching the game. He didn't really "walk" onto the court. He did the equivalent of an older person trying to run onto the court. After he was escorted off, his son, Kellen, took over and continued to bark at the officials.

Sampson's timing was good. The Cougars were up 20 and in no danger of allowing the Cowboys to catch up.

^^^^ I am picturing being in a hotel in Florida and just getting into the elevator and then a couple of "older people" start waving and yelling to hold the elevator as they waddle forward.

I'm older than Sampson. You must've seen me in that elevator.

Via Joseph Duarte (UH beat writer):

Houston coach Kelvin Sampson said in the AAC that Cincinnati was "the most consistent, tradition-rich program over the years."

"They had established it from Bob Huggins to Mick (Cronin) to Wes (Miller). Cincinnati has always been one of the great programs in the country. They took a drop, but now Wes has them right back up there. The drop was when he first got there and just figuring out how he's going to put his stamp. Now he does."

Wes just said on the radio show that CJ made it through a full practice and might play this weekend.

5/3rd crowd needs to be loud, rowdy but not belligerent, and rocking the whole game. The 'cats need to be physical and make their presence known. Here's hoping everyone has come to ball out and hoping the refs call a good game but yet still allowing them to play. If anyone is due to tag a loss onto Sampson and the Cougars it's the 'cats. Is there any plans for a white, red or black out in 5/3 ?
