It’s a shame Bill Russell is gone, it would have been so cool to have he and Oscar at the game Tuesday night. Two of the greatest of all, one from each school.

The younger generation does not even recognize how great those two were.

I'm not sure how we got paired with SF but they still have a sense of humor. They paired South Florida with UCF. Looks like that game is in Orlando because UCF is the seeded team, which in itself is wild out of that pair. I think the reason we didn't get Ohio State is that they are also seeded #2. Most of the other games are regional matchups with a couple of exceptions. How Xavier got into the field had to have been strictly because of opt outs. There are no other teams in the field with a losing record.

            My NIT FF predictions:

Seton Hall, Iowa, Cincinnati, and Wake Forrest. The home cooking helps two number 1 seeds, but upsets will happen and good teams like Iowa and Cincinnati will make it to Indy.
Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

            Intimidate! Dominate! Celebrate!

UC will not see either tosu or xu until the finals if they all win.

Now that just doesn't make tv ratings sense in this day of schedules by tv rating.

A couple things that stand out about SF so far:

                    #66 in NET
                    #70 in KenPom (#97 AdjO, #39 AdjD)

Similar profile to a UCF or Kansas State

KenPom had their strength of schedule at #189 in the country.

                    0-8 in Q1 games

Their only Q2 win was 76-58 over #89 Minnesota on a neutral court during non-conference play.

6'8 4th-year forward Jonathan Mogbo appears to be their best player. He averaged 14.4 ppg, 10.8 ppg, and 3.5 apg while shooting nearly 65% from the field. He seems like their only player who isn't a threat from 3.

They shoot the ball really well inside the arch (58.1%) and at the free throw line (75.8%) but only get to the line 14 times/game - one of the lowest rates in D1. They do a great job of keeping their opponents off the boards.

Xavier probably because of NET ranking that the NCAA uses.

X has a higher NET than Seton Hall (who are 1 Seed), San Francisco (who plays UC), Richmond, Boston College, Butler, UC Irvine, App State, South Florida, Minnesota, Loyola Chicago, SMU, LSU
..and Memphis (who don't even want to bother with the NIT.)

I think I am of a slightly younger generation (maybe a touch younger than Lobot)-both incredible players, both also worthy of honors for their advocacy for civil rights and player freedoms. Would have been cool to see....

Oklahoma turned down the NIT which would have put 4 teams in the lower tournament. Big 12 Sends Three Teams To Men’s NIT Postseason (heartlandcollegesports.com)
