It was too early to foul. The strategy up 3 is to foul with about 5 seconds left, otherwise you're giving the other team a 2 for 1. They put the shot up before that.

Yes, we had one foul to give, and we could have given it any time, but you still end up in the same situation after that foul. The last opportunity to give the free foul would have been Newman on the drive with 12 seconds left. That's sort of wasting the foul to give - it's probably best to save that until around 7 seconds left. Malik Thomas went into his shooting motion with 10 seconds left.

If we foul twice and they hit both free throws, we're up 1 inbounding with more than 10 seconds left. All sorts of things can go wrong. Assuming we don't turn it over, we're likely going to the free throw line shooting a 1 and 1 with 10 seconds left. Imagine the rage here if Skillings bricks the front end and the Dons come down and win the game with a layup. We've seen that movie before.

                    • Up by nine with less than 3 minutes to go and instead of running clock, Josh Reed comes down a takes a WILD three. USF gets the long rebound and comes down and scores. That crazy shot by Reed started a rally that led to the series of events that ended the game in a tie. There was another play where Skillings had a chance to run the clock on a semi-fast break. Instead he threw the ball to Aziz in an ally-oop attempt that went wrong.

What the f@#k is wrong with Miller's teams when it comes to securing a win when the game is close? With his other two UC teams, the players were the same way. We all recall Davenport, Nolley, and DeJulius coming down the court in a close game, with UC in the lead, and one of them would take a very quick wild shot. Last night I was watching Miller on the sideline during those crazy wild events and NOT one time did I see Miller make an attempt to slow the team down and just RUN SOME CLOCK. I know Miller likes to run, but good teams know when to run and when to slow down.

Let's face it. This UC team (and Miller's other UC teams) is NOT that bright. Miller's UC teams DO NOT RESPECT POSSESSIONS AND ARE VERY RECKLESS WITH THE BALL. What about that crazy left-hand pass by Thomas that went out-of-bounds in the overtime. That pass almost cost UC the game.

Going into next year, Miller has got to do a better job at ballhandling and passing drills. How many wins have been sacrificed this year alone because of SLOPPY AND CARELESS play down the stretch in tight winnable games? Is this reckless and careless play a product of coaching?

                      • Glad not to have lost. A couple of things. SL is the only calm one on the team. My wife screamed nice pass by Aziz for the winner though. If this game didn't show CWM that a floor leader is needed what would? Your guards are lacking dribbling skills. They are heroes (announcers looking at a father and not the player as well as starting to play in the 9th grade by another), and they look good in scoring a basket, but their lack of skills causes so many more lost points. DayDay two wild passes in OT and JJ dribbles off his foot and his hip. They can't dribble and see the floor at the same time. How can you when you have to look down in order to dribble and when you don't you dribble off your foot or hip. UC must get a floor leader not only to distribute and bring the ball up, but to get the guys going when their heads are not in the game. Speaking of heads not being in the game, Vik was given an opportunity early in the first half. His lack of attention to his man on D and then when he didn't see SL getting the rebound but knocking it out of bounds was wretched. He was yanked and sat the rest of the game as he should. It is time for him to mature or transfer. Once again ---- where would this team be without SL ----I figured SL would have the play set for him as he didn't inbound -- CWM knew at the end of the game who had to have the ball - DS, JJ or SL-- He made the right call and again, good pass/screen by Aziz.I am happy that DS knows to follow his shot as the SF defense stood and watched the ball. Overall, a win is a win, and we get to see the beloved Cats play another game.

A product of a couple guys being pampered for years on the court and not forced to do fundamental skills. It is a product of how the game has changed for the worse. A point guard who can't dribble. I like them as shooting guards if they get the proper direction while on the floor and follow the set play. The highlights are to be bragged on, but I would rather have wins and plenty of them. No matter how the game has changed to the TV camera, you still need a floor leader to win the big games. The history of Bearcat Basketball has proved that.

That explains a lot. He was one of at least 3 Bearcats off their game last night. Almost ended the season.

That was a helluva shot by Simas to win. I don't even think he was squared up with his feet set.

I saw the whole qoute from Wes just now and this might be a serious lower leg injury. We should probably be prepared for Jizzle James to go 40 minutes in the next game.
