perhaps in theory only but not in actual practice. If you want to compete, there are unwritten rules. These guys coming in have spent literally hundreds of hours working on basketball skills and much less on academic.

I agree with you. The money that is flying around is not only insane, it is dangerous for college sports. One of the reasons Sabin (football) got out of college sports.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing regarding my man Ody Oguama and his sudden reduction in playing time. If that is the case, it all makes sense now.

Simas had been consistently playing 30+ since Dec 19. Aziz played 20-30 all year long. Jamille bounced around from 10 to 20 with no real pattern and actually had a bump up to 20 minutes in that Iowa St game before dropping to 14 again. Jizzle's minutes increased at the very end of the season but bounced around in conference play, and were actually lower in the couple games after Iowa St, some of those taken by CJ. Day Day saw a boost from the upper 20s to lower 30s beginning March 2 against K State. Newman was consistently around 30 all year.

Reed played only 1 minute against Iowa St and the preceding Houston game (and 10 or less in the previous 4) before jumping up to 14 and 13 after. If a donor was looking for playing time after the Iowa St game, Reed is the only guy who got it, but that boost was gone by the conference tournament. The PGs started playing together more beginning February 24, but that coincides with the only three games Vik played significant minutes after Iowa St.

I do love a good conspiracy though.
What about Ody Oguama and his playing time?

This is what about ODY. He showed maturity and represented his school and team as a mature and educated UC man.

Ody barely played after Aziz and Jamille became eligible. If a donor wanted Ody to get more minutes, it definitely didn't work.

Not in theory. The NCAA will crack down on pay-4-play and there are written rules/regulations. I recognize everybody is doing it right now, but that won't stop NCAA infractions/penalties since our name isn't Kansas or UNC.

No. What I am asking, or trying to understand; was Oguma's playing time also sacrificed because some donor wanted more playing time for somebody else? I guess there is no way for anyone to know that, huh?

Or UConn. Do you remember around 10 years ago the scandal where the players were stealing computers? That may have been Calhoun's last season?

Believe it or not, that was almost 20 years ago -- 2005

well someone gave that scenario -- perhaps they should comment more.

If you were referring to me, I think Ody was mostly collateral damage from the transfer portal additions. I loved Ody but he's a 6'6 4/5. We brought in 7'2 and 6'11 at the 5 . I think Ody would have been out there more if he had more offense in his arsenal. The defense and effort on the court was always there. Bearcat for sure.

                          • Ody’s 6’9, 230lb.I think his offensive abilities could have improved had he played more. His defense was really solid.

Wow, it seems like I lose track of time.

                              • No new news here is good right? I'd think players like Reed or Sage have made decisions, or do we need to await an announcement they're coming back like the one Simas posted?
